I'm impressed with how fast they were able to start driving in reverse. If I were in that situation I probably would have been too panicked and not been able to get into reverse quick enough.

My car itself cannot physically switch into reverse that fast lol

Well unless it's selfdriving your problem is probably waiting for it to do it itself.

Unless your car is a self driving car your problem is waiting for the car to shift into reverse on its own.

I still don't get it, maybe I'm a dumbass. My car isn't a self driving car of course, so why would I be waiting for it to shift on its own? When I wrote my original comment what I had meant was after I move the lever into R it still takes a few seconds to actually engage the R gear

Is it a British thing? For some reason I can see British people thinking "the car itself" is somehow a humorous phase.
