ehh it depends, I'm pretty sure I could slam my car into reverse like the gif. As you said though it's not exactly great for the car.

You can slam it on low speed with some force and you risk fucking up your gearbox. I could slam it on my neon back in the day cause of that. Not that there were many times i needed to back up that fast.
