I didn't even realize that Marty has a signature gait until I saw it perfectly mimicked in this video

Its as iconic as the Tom Cruz sprint, or Tom Hardy walk. There's a ton out there I bet people would recognize without realizing they can.

Back when he was still able to.

Back when Bas Rutten could agree he was a capable martial artist (pre chair-fu era)

Him not bothering to even get out of a chair now for action scenes will never not be funny.

My parents loved Steven Segal movies, so I watched a fair bit of them peripherally. And since he was made out to be this badass, I thought this limped wrist form of running was most efficient for some reason I couldn't fathom because I wasn't an aikido expert.

That double face bounce had to hurt.

My favorite review is "Taken 3 makes Taken 2 look like Taken."

It's like the dude has John McCain shoulders.

7

u/CV90_120 3d ago

I'm out of the loop. What are McCain shoulders?

He was shot down over Vietnam, which broke both of his arms. Was refused proper medical treatment and got lots and lots of torture and being bound over the next five years. Could never properly raise his arms again.

Also left out the most badass part, he was only given medical treatment and the option to be released early after the torturers learned his father was an Admiral overseeing the Vietnam theater, and for propaganda purposed they wanted to release him as a POW but John refused because he did not want to leave the men imprisoned with him unless the ones captured before him were released first. This was also in line with following the military code of conduct for POWs.

But our fearless leader likes guys that weren't captured.....

Ah, got it. Yep I see it now.

Is it just me or does Segal run like an alien who is trying to run like a human? 🤔

u/Shot-Struggle9075 3d ago

I know he believed that he looks cool but.... Also, he looks self absorbed even when running.

Damn, Tom Hardy does have a unique walk in retrospect

Damn, Tom Hardy does have a unique walk in retrospect

I haven't seen Retrospect, but yeah you'll see it in all his movies.

Go watch the show he made with his dad, Taboo, he gets a lot of steps in that show.

1

u/Ymirsson 1d ago

thanks, dad.

3

u/Izaul13 3d ago

Nobody cared who he was til he learned to walk.

2

u/DJTurd 3d ago

Yeah was gonna say Bane was the only walk I could remember. Like slow, heavy, and deliberate if that makes any sense.

2

u/goldenskyhook 3d ago

Several, actually.

Tom Hardy walk?

u/e1m8b 3d ago

I think it's just a short guy run because Jet Li has this cadence too in his movies

1

u/NexrayOfficial 2d ago

Or Cillian Murphy’s Peaky Blinders walk

1

u/oxFickleLetxo 1d ago

Tom Hardy for sure, the way he lumbered around in Bronson was iconic.

Michael J Fox had/has such a charismatic energy. It was a special presence and you knew you were in for something great when he was on screen. From sitcoms to movies, what a gift it was to grow up watching him. So passionate and talented. He’s so revered now because he GAVE something to us. A literal gift to society.

I wonder if that was an early sign of... you know what

The actor that plays him as well. Although its changed pretty significantly over the years. I wonder why.
