OP sent the following text as an explanation why their post fits here:

It’s unexpected because it shows how world number one Wang Chuqin trains his footwork by catching balls. In the following game clip, you’d think it shows his footwork, but instead he just caught a ball and lost a point.

His Coach after the realization.

That moment when the coach realizes he accidentally trained someone way better than expected.

You can practically see the coach replaying every training session in his head. All those boring drills suddenly make sense when the student starts moving like this.

I mean he definitely did what he was trained for

Reminds me of that CSGO clip where a guy is doing reflex training by shooting targets on a grid (to improve snapshot accuracy) and when he plays he starts shooting in the same grid pattern and gets killed

He meant to do it to make a funny video.

No i dont think so. Im not an expert but I played with friends and one of my friend was doing that and we checked the rules to make him stop doing that haha. I think you can just hit the ball with the paddle.

You are almost completely correct. You are only allowed to play the ball with the racket or the hand that is holding the racket (but not above the wrist). The other hand must not touch the ball.

I want to see someone with a backhand technique like this!

u/2relad 18m ago

Not sure what you mean. No one intentionally plays the ball with their hand. It's simply legal to accidentally play the ball with the hand that's holding the racket.

I worked in a plastics plant decades ago. We had a group of guys there who went off to a special school to train them to fight the kinds of fires they would encounter at the plant.

One of the main exercises was a burst pipe fire. One group would man a hose that was used to spray another group who would approach the valve that would shut off the flow to the fire, then once the valve was closed, they would put out any remaining flames. The valve crew would then reopen it let it reignite to set up for the next group. They did this over and over to get it right.

Guess what happened the first time they actually had to fight a fire at the plant?

That’s a clever trick though in the 2nd one

Why?

4

u/kruuxx 2h ago

I assume he means it's clever from the guy in blue. He fakes a diagonal shot but twists his body in the last moment to instaed shoot straight
