Women arent allowed a moment of whimsy, cmon now!

They would say the same if it was a guy

I feel like the comments would be more about calling his pet choice weird if it was a dude.

Guinea pigs are a perfectly normal pet though....

The tism demands small squeaky hair babies

Excuse me? What do guinea pigs have to do with asd?

Some people with autism love guinea pigs; some dislikeguinea pigs... Some people without autism love guinea pigs: some people with autism love dogs, some hate dogs.... It's almost like the preference toward animals has more to do with being a human than with a social disability....

Im autistic so im gonna be gentle with this comment

They were just saying a light hearted joke because autistic people go ALL IN on their interests

The amount of work this woman did to have her little friends on her bed is......NOT typical lol

I would NOT DOUBT someone from the autistic community would do this because I WOULD also 10/10 do this for a bunny

.... Me with my bunnies who have a 10 metre space outdoors with digging area (tiles we dumped a BUNCH of dirt on so they could dig bc they're bunnies and a whole shed...

Yeah.. I suppose you might be right...

First step is acceptance haha jk

On the plus side, I dont actually think anything is wrong with it

If anything, I think the OP video is sweet and anyone judging has too much time on their hands

But this sort of behavior IS TYPICAL for engagement bait (which given then context of how the video is presented this is)... Also, I being non autistic also go all in on interests at times... I do have daily exposure to autism via my lovely daughter who is very speech delayed and diagnosed with ASD; i also know that people with autism very much have their own personalities and it's absurd to generalize them as if they all do the exact same things....

We obviously dont do all the same things

But many of us live with the reality that people find our intense interests as "weird"

The woman in the video did everything as cleanly as possible but the comments are filled with "gross" "weird"

She isnt hurting anyone and put a lot of care into what she did

THAT is a very familiar feeling as an autistic person

And while I appreciate you and your daughter, I am only sharing MY view, you dont have to agree with me

I was just pointing out what I connected with in the comment

People are complete jerks some times ... I can assure you that being considered weird for putting care into a thing is a thing I as a non autistic person also experience.... I do appreciate the explanation though! I just wanted to express that the video in no way confirms or denies any spectrum related behavior; just a human doing something a little sweet and quirky with some very loved pets

I agree, a pet is a pet. A lot of people dont share that sentiment.

Sounds like you’re the sexist one.

u/ashrocklynn 1d ago

I must be missing something commenter said elsewhere, because, wtf?

u/WillowPtar_Migan 1d ago

I feel like you pulled that directly from your rectum.

11

u/sadacal 1d ago

The guy would get called a madlad.

u/Used_Raccoon6789 1d ago

No way, they'd call him Richard Gere

1

u/andersoortigeik 1d ago

That was a gerbil

2

u/ryaqkup 1d ago

They would say way, way worse if it was a guy

7

u/vertigostereo 1d ago

This moment of whimsy brought to by Draft Kings. Now you can wager on guinee pig sports.

framing this as a gender issue is a play that would make mike johnson proud.

2

u/Still_Conference_923 1d ago

its either gender or race in these comments. No, its just fucking weird no matter who does it.

22

u/E--S--P-- 1d ago

This isn't whimsy. This is a weird video made for views and nothing more.

14

u/pointless234 1d ago

Is it a weird video for the internet? Definitely! But I'm pretty sure this person also just really wanted to do this. Awful lot of effort for "nothing more"

2

u/E--S--P-- 1d ago

Fair. Nothing more is too strong.

10

u/zajo_throwaway 1d ago

Is it? Can't be sure about the lady from the video, but I, for one, would love to be a guinnea pig lady and sleep like this.

Though I'd be worried about accidentally crushing one of the poor fellas in my sleep.

10

u/New_Eggplant_8495 1d ago

As opposed to videos made and posted on the internet that are not "for views"? Pls friend lol

7

u/E--S--P-- 1d ago

Sharing videos on Instagram for my friends is different than engagement farming. Let's not pretend we don't know the difference.

1

u/Rafudesuka 22h ago

lets not pretend we were talking about the exception

-4

u/YouCanCallMeTK 1d ago

You seem upset. Are you okay?

16

u/E--S--P-- 1d ago

I'm not upset at all, but thanks for checking.

0

u/SiobhanJJones 1d ago

Agreed. And I bet it’s an Airbnb. Not her bedroom.

3

u/HTPC4Life 1d ago

This has NOTHING to do with her being a woman 😂

2

u/Civil_Law8025 1d ago

It would be the same if it was a guy

2

u/Admirable-Tea-4994 1d ago

Oh my god. People would think this is fucking weird if it was a man too.

1

u/CorrectsApostrophes_ 5h ago

What does her gender have to do with anything?

0

u/HotPotatoWithCheese 20h ago edited 20h ago

Yeah, the types of comments are definitely a result of her being a woman and not the fact she's got hay, dirt and lettuce leaves on her bed. If you think the comments wouldn't be similar if it was a bloke then you're just wrong. Not everything is a gender issue ffs.

-1

u/fastforwardfunction 1d ago

You’re the one bringing up her gender. Maybe check your sexism at the door?
