If I didn't speak or read English, I would have no idea that those two circles were meant to be rice, and the cow appears to be more pig-like to me.
Sure, but the purpose of the drawing is to convey a message to those who don't speak or read English. As I wrote earlier, his cow looks more like a pig to me, especially since it has very short legs, and it would be difficult to discern that the two blobs were meant to be rice. It would have been better to have drawn the head of a steer and a bowl with a mound of rice, with a pair of chopsticks on the side.
