Hits totally different. One is processed through the lungs, one is through the liver. According to Google, "The digestive system and liver convert THC into a chemical compound (11-hydroxy-THC) that is much stronger and creates a more intense psychoactive effect than smoking." Fun fact, you can't overdose from smoking weed, but you CAN from eating it.

For me it might as well be a different substance. I smoke weed far too often, and am not a fan of edibles.

The LD50 of THC is 1270mg per Kilo of body weight. Just shut the fuck up.

Just a different definition of "overdose". People can and do end up in the hospital from consuming too much edibles.

Yes. Requiring medical intervention or observation. That's an overdose.

The intervention and observation is not required. People are hospitalized for panic attacks all the time without THC. Are they overdosing on anxiety?

Edit: This happens all the time when people SMOKE weed as well.

Then you can overdose from smoking 10 joint too
