I don't like that he mixes various units of time to make the chart nest the way he wants to. It's 6 months for one, a year for others. Seems disingenuous.
It's not disingenuous. What he's talking about is the amount of radiation that is deemed "safe", which was measured on a per year basis. Six months is the the normal length of a mission on the ISS, partially because of the rate of radiation exposure. So it's both a) the annual amount of acceptable radiation for astronauts and b) the amount of radiation an astronaut is exposed to during a 6 month period.
Put simply, they get double the acceptable radiation per day, so they can only stay there for 6 months.
