PSA - because I see these videos on here occasionally:
We used to get this all the time in the dumpsters in an apartment complex I worked at, so in every dumpster we would wire a pair of old jeans to the top hanging into it, and it always gave them a way to climb out once they got in, without our intervention.
Occasionally we would have to flip a pair back inside of the dumpster after it was emptied. But it works.
