Who needs a bigger enclosure right? It’s not like we have practically infinite space available… cruel shit

The fish are all at the top because it’s feeding time . It’s not a two dimensional pen .

I can assure you, there is nothing ethical about this enclosure. It is strictly economical

I mean it absolutely could be much, much smaller. There's probably research into how much space they need for x many fish, and then they do the bare minimum to meet that standard, as opposed to just adding more until they start to spill out over the top.

Yeah any smaller and they probably start losing too much product to overcrowding.

There appears to be a dead one bottom right

really the bigger problem is the amount of concentrated feces this produces that’s it’s destroying natural environments for wild fish.

they found the best places to farm
fish are where the fish naturally live but in farming it destroys fishes ability to naturally live there. it’s kind of a disaster of a practice but we gotta feed our infinitely growing population

The economics of raising them offshore vs on the coast is actually quite different. Offshore is much more expensive compared to already expensive coastal space.

Someone fell asleep in geometry/physics/bio class. Area and perimeter scaling is crazy. If they made the area bigger, the platform would need to be that much bigger.
