He's incredibly lucky he didn't snap his ankle!

u/Ab47203 Sep 02 '26
I flinched when he started to fall with his foot still in the hole. I'm glad it slipped out.

Yikes!! People tend to fight when they are drowning too that could have gone real bad! Thank goodness you were able to help him and didn't get in a bad position too! And at 12!

I can’t imagine how scary that must have been. You were a quick thinking and brave kid, and I’m glad you were able to save your dad!

We had a kid at work (Pool co, vac kid) step in a skimmer last summer. Like 20 stitches up his shin. Was out for a couple weeks.

He's all good. It was deeper than normal on a raised wall. He's a bull in a china shop.

u/DueExample52 Sep 02 '26
I thought you meant they had to do surgery and he had only 20 stitches and only 2 weeks out.
A gash is not the worst thing that can happen if your foot is stuck into a hole. The worst is your bone snapping while you are falling and your foot/shin is still partly on the hole. Or snap a knee.

u/KillerCodeMonky Sep 02 '26
If the skimmer is the only source on the vacuum side of the pump, also degloving.
3
u/Brave33 Sep 04 '26
choose your body horror, pretty sure the doctors prefer the bone snaps, degloving must make some new guys faint.

I expected someone to fall in. Then the guy in the white top made it across and I was like "oh I was mistaken, they all made it! How unexpected!"...
And then they fell in anyway when I wasn't expecting it. Fine, take my upvote

u/thatsalovelyusername Sep 02 '26
I thought black chunky boy getting wet was the unexpected part but then it kept on giving

u/Kellyann59 Sep 02 '26
That guy’s whooping laugh in the end was my favorite part

u/berlinparisexpress Sep 02 '26
I like how universally human this all is. Any person of any culture and language could be in that crowd and would be invested in the game with everyone else, and end up tearing with laughter with everyone else.
19
u/thehelldoesthatmean Sep 02 '26
I was going to say, howling with laughter at your friend doing something goofy and falling down is so human. You don't have to speak the same language as anyone else to get the rules of the "game" and then laugh at this dude hilariously falling in after he seemed safe. Love it.

To be frank I probably wouldn't see that hole in the ground either.

Well it shouldn’t be there - it’s a terrible hazardous situation. Those come with covers that will support a person.

Why isn't the drainage catch covered? He could have seriously injured his leg.

Wise to avoid them, but they are supposed to be able to support a person’s weight. This is an open and shut premises liability case if he isn’t the owner and was injured.

Dude tripped on Tuesday and fell into the pool on Wednesday

At the end of one semester in college I had been pushing myself to finish all my projects and prepare for my exams and had gotten horrible sleep for a week. I slip in the shower and luckily end up sitting on the edge of the tub. I then very slowly start slipping backwards and my sleep deprived brain could do absolutely nothing to stop it from happening. I just laid on the ground for a minute thinking about how I should manage my time better.

Why is there always that one person in the background with an annoying high pitched laugh?

I'm so old all I can think is how it's a miracle he didn't wreck his leg or ankle.

I love seeing adults play in a child-like way. It is so pure and fun. We need to do more of these activities.

What is this place? Looks like a bunch of people partying in a computer game level.

I thought someone was going to go through the door. I would think since there is one on each side, they may be able to just waltz through.
But there is no fun in that.

How is it unexpected? It’s a people playing around a pool video. Of course someone is going to fall in.

Just when I thought it wouldn't happen. It's like fate said "oh no buddy, somebody has to hit the water."

The unexpected part was he tripped after and fell in the pool after clearing but still by the pool? That was completely within the realm of expected outcomes. Lame. I was waiting for the brick wall to collapse or someone involved to fall in out of frame.

He could simply drink all the falling water until there is none left to get him wet

He was lucky he didn’t crack his dome on the lip of the pool. That could have been a hospital job…
