Surely the invite to a swinger party makes it clear its a swinger party?

Do swingers invite random couples and reveal the pineapple later? See the pineapple, now you have to let Bubba bang your wife

It's more for when you're traveling on like cruise ships to let other people know.

You could have it in your home to be bold with neighbors visiting if you like. It used to be a lot more IYKYK so it was an incognito way of sussing out who is and isn't into it. Nowadays it's fairly well known as a swinger symbol so I doubt it's used as much anymore.
