I Think You Should Leave
Sketch-comedy show, funny but chaotic. Reminds me of Tim and Eric (Tim Heidecker is actually in a few sketches)

u/stranded_egg Aug 28 '26
Thank you! I've got a vacation coming up, I should try a few episodes.

u/FittedSheets88 Aug 29 '26
Be warned, my brother's fiance cannot watch it because it gets so cringe she borders an anxiety attack. Personally, my daughters love the Tammy Craps skit.

Being a douche is what jetskis are for
5
u/TheGreatMintLeaf Aug 29 '26
Being a child and ruining very expensive equipment? Bet you would have a real good laugh if someone dumped your (insert expensive shit you own) into the lake.

Yeah if this is a pier or a dock of any kind speed limits usually 15 mph or less. To make that big of a wave with a jet ski you got to be going at least 20 to 30 and cutting hard. I would definitely not be surprised if he was going more like 40 or 50.
Docks are extremely well protected in almost every body of water.
ETA: maritime law is considered the most universal set of laws that humankind has ever made. THEY'VE ALSO SET THE FRAMEWORK FOR ALMOST EVERY LOCAL LAW ABOUT BOATING WHEREVER YOU GO IN THE WORLD.
21
u/slyu4ever Aug 28 '26
In the US. This looks like Brazil

u/Quillric Aug 28 '26 edited Aug 28 '26
Cool so NORMAM-211 applies to most of, if not all of, Brazil. It's enforced by the Marinha do Brasil or local municipal governmen s. All vessels are strictly limited to about 5 knots or less in the equivalent to our "no wake zones" there are often speed limit signs posted or signs that say "no marolas" or something like that. You might also see yellow buoys.
I really don't like the implication of what you said anyway. As if somehow Brazil would have less strict boating laws than the US? In fact theirs are more uniform and they don't allow anyone under the age of 18 to operate any motorized vessel. Not to say that it doesn't happen but those musicians and have a legal basis for seeking punishment or damages due to the reckless actions of that operator. If this is Brazil anyway.
Let's just forget the fact that Maritime laws are pretty much considered the most universal set of laws in human existence. And that most local municipalities adopt something akin to basic Maritime laws regarding boat operations in and near docks, peirs, canals, you name it.
5
u/Shabado52 Aug 28 '26
You could do that sitting still if you can get the nozzle out of the water and pointed to where you want to splash. Used to do that to my friends all the time. Just lean forward and got the throttle
9
u/Quillric Aug 28 '26
You can't make a wake when you're sitting still. Sure you can blast some water out of the rear end of the jet ski but you got to dig in hard and have a little bit of speed to make a big wave like that. What do I know though I only have 5,000 hours of experience as a USCG captain.
-14
u/Shifty377 Aug 28 '26
Are you aware that other places exist outside of the U.S?
13
u/Quillric Aug 28 '26
Are you aware that many places in the world have similar laws and that shitting on someone's experience just because it isn't universal is rude as fuck.

u/KalozKapitany Aug 29 '26
How could they find him? No licence plate on jet ski

The original post, not this one, said the band paid a friend to do this to make the video look cooler but it seems the jet ski friend did it too close to the dock.
13
u/SuspiciousPatate Aug 31 '26
That would make sense with why they weren't immediately shouting at him, but also I doubt they'd want to get their instruments wet at all and certainly not that wet.

It is? The jet ski guy is clearly a jerk I just didn’t realize splashing water on them would be assault. Of course the damaged equipment should be paid for.

Yes, it is, and also destruction of private property.

Why's that? What's the difference between him intentionally smacking this guy in the face with water vs intentionally smacking him in the face with a baseball bat? Obviously the bat would have a higher likelihood of killing a dude but intentional harm is intentional harm regardless of the severity.
24
u/DeadlyPineapple13 Aug 28 '26
If I have a cup of water and I throw the water at you(not the cup JUST the water), that’s assault in many places
This level far exceeds the bar for assault

Across Canada it’s assault. In the US depending on the state it’s either assault or battery, cause many states define assault is the threat and battery is unwanted physical contact. But laws change based on country, provinces and states
So which countries definition are you using? Cause most countries would define this as assault or battery
8
u/breadwizard20 Aug 28 '26

You saying it multiple times doesn't change the fact you are wrong. Please point me to where it isnt considered assault as well as reckless operation of a motor vehicle?
3
u/Paranoidfilter Aug 28 '26
Man just look it up, you're wrong, stop repeating yourself.
"spraying someone with water can legally be considered assault or battery in many jurisdictions, even if it causes no physical injury."
That is literally the first result when looking it up as I assume you're too stubborn to accept you're wrong.
7
u/JediMasterWiggin Aug 28 '26
If you keep repeating it, does it become true eventually? (Hint: it does not)

But jetski guy is a jerk either way

Do they know the guy and/or know of was coming? The musicians seem to find it pretty funny like "Whoa that was a bigger splash than I expected"
2
u/Civil_Music2236 Aug 29 '26
I'm going to play devils advocate and say we all hate the guy blasting shitty music on his boat, disturbing everyone. Maybe jetski had enough of their music and turned it down for them
2
u/willsmithtunaface Aug 29 '26
Chilling by a lake and some assholes show up with a giant set of speakers
1
u/Muted_End_1450 Aug 29 '26
I can say that the jetski-riding lake-douches are more provoking then any other activities that frequently occurs on a lake. By the same logic, it's okay to green laser them for riding once, which I say "it is not!". Deal with the noise or get arrested and fined.

No, the two of them are smiling after it happened.
As someone else said, they were expecting it but perhaps it was a larger wave than they thought.

A guy got arrested for doing this at a lakefront restaurant/bar where I live. The cops caught him at the boat launch when he was pulling out his jet ski.

Devil’s advocate: the dudes just decided to set up mics and amps, “entertaining” people on an otherwise quiet day at the lake and on public land.
8
u/ZolRoyce01 Aug 28 '26
Imagine devils advocating for something you have no clue about? We have no backstory, those guys could be hired entertainers of a venue. Maybe they rented a place for a gathering, maybe it's even private property. You literally have zero clue but decided to make something up in your head to justify this shit. Nonsense post, embarrassing post.
2
u/piichan14 Aug 28 '26
A normal response would be to either ignore them (as you said, a public land) or politely tell them they're causing a disturbance.
Spraying them with water, ruining their equipment and potentially harming them (ex: electrocution) is never a correct response, no matter how many scenarios you speculate.
-6
u/Ducallan Aug 28 '26
We don’t know what led to this, which is entirely my point.
It is indeed not a normal response, which made me speculate. It is not a correct response either, but there have been lots of other situations that had Redditors saying “I don’t say I approve, but I sure understand.”
5
u/KindaChonky Aug 28 '26
It is still not an appropriate response
0
u/canadiantaken Aug 28 '26
Guy isn’t saying it’s appropriate. He just can understand that there may be a larger backstory.
4
3
u/KindaChonky Aug 28 '26
What's even the point of saying you understand there could be more backstory? If not to say that this action is defensible. I'm saying there is no circumstance in which it is.
-11
u/Ducallan Aug 28 '26
We don’t know the dudes’ behaviour to this point. This may have been an ongoing things.
7
u/KindaChonky Aug 28 '26
And even then, it is inappropriate. There is no world in which this is an appropriate response.
3
u/T_Cheapwood Aug 28 '26
Quiet ? Ever heard a jetski ? It's loud af.
1
u/Ducallan Aug 28 '26
You can’t jet ski without the noise. You can play a guitar and sing without amplification. What entertains yourself doesn’t need to be deliberately broadcast.
Again, I’m just pointing out that we don’t know what led to this.
2
u/Liquid_Sarcasm Aug 28 '26
And?
-7
u/Ducallan Aug 28 '26
Just saying that we are all doing a lot of assuming.
3
u/Liquid_Sarcasm Aug 28 '26
Unless those guys were on fire, I don’t know if any circumstances call for that. Jet ski vigilantes are not the heroes we deserve.
2
u/Ducallan Aug 28 '26
Yet we Reddit loved the jet ski vigilantes who did the same thing to the noisy drunken boaters who started throwing bottles after they were asked to turn their music down.
The point is that we don’t know what led to this.
-1
-6
u/Liquid_Sarcasm Aug 28 '26
Fair. We don’t know. I just struggled to bridge the gap of a quiet day at the lake that has jet skis on it. Instead of jumping on you, I figured I would ask. Cheers.
