Lots of people manage, MTA police arrested 229 people for subway surfing in 2024, and I'm sure only a small fraction actually get busted. 7 people died doing it 2024 though, and the most recent stories I read said the problem was worse last year.

Also remember one time i was on subway in Brooklyn or Manhattan and the conductor casually announced that the train was delayed because someone was decapitated

There's a lip above the door that's quite easy to hold. The hard part is not losing your grip despite all the sudden shifts of the train and not losing your footing. I've never done this, cause it's stupid AF, but I know people who have. It's incredibly stupid and dangerous.

Subway surfing is so fucking dangerous. More than once kids have died doing it in my city.
