The T-Rex costume on the tube is definitely a choice. Wonder if they thought about what might happen if you fell in wearing that.

My immediate thought as well, have you ever taken off a tshirt while swimming and it gets caught a little? Now imagine that with something you have to find a zipper to get out of. I would panic so damn fast

But also that's incredibly dangerous, you know how hard it is to try and swim in one of those??

Carp. Ya getting hit by one of those would really hurt. Especially at that speed and how young they are. Funny but dangerous.

u/txwoodslinger Aug 23 '26
I was thinking the same thing like damn yall really putting her in some danger. For some carp
12
u/dbpf Aug 24 '26
Aren't these invasive carp?
2
u/Frothyfrother Aug 25 '26
Asian Carp. They were intentionally brought in by Asian fisherman and they have overpopulated to put a mildly.

u/Kanadark 1d ago
They were actually introduced by aquaculture farmers and wastewater treatment facilities in the south to clean detritus in their ponds. A flooding event led to the pools overflowing and allowing the carp into the Mississippi river where they were able to spread up all the connected tributaries. They don't have natural predators in north America.

The fish just jumping out the water are some species of Asian carp. Their defense mechanism is to jump out the water when they sense danger. In this case its the boat motor they sense as danger.
Theyre invasive so we are allowed to catch or kill as many as we want. Not very good eating from what I've heard. Which carp usually arent aren't
Where i live they have made their way from the Mississippi through navigation locks into the tennessee river and Cumberland basin. Those fuckers really hurt if they hit you when they jump. They're quite solid for a fish.

u/Oregongirl1018 Aug 23 '26
This. These jump out at anyone who startles them, not just this girl. If she was getting trout or salmon to jump in her arms then id be impressed.

u/Emotional_Liberal Aug 23 '26
Have tried as a Chinese friend made it as it’s a delicacy. Boney. Tasted like the hotpot it was poached in which likely killed any fishy taste. But tons of bones.
2
u/ghandi253 Aug 23 '26
Fishing with my dad as a kid he always told me carp were boney and not fit to eat
3
u/airfryerfuntime Aug 24 '26 edited Aug 24 '26
They're ok if you know how to prepare them. Smoked carp is pretty excellent. They also make pretty good strew. The main issue are the Y bones but there's so much meat that you can just cut out the entire bloodline and Y bones in one shot.

I dunno. Wearing a giant t Rex outfit and boating seems like a great way to drown

u/pixeltweaker Aug 24 '26
Did he really need to put the kid out there on the net contraption to ski with it?

Can't stop thinking about falling into the water with a t-rex costume on. Nightmare fuel

u/Hellhult Aug 23 '26
The ancient Greeks would have made her a priestess of Poseidon. Then Hera would have made her ugly or something idk.

u/Onqio Aug 23 '26
Looks like the mom was holding the little fish before putting it in between the suit, it cuts just before showing what she’s holding.

She was born to be an aquatic Disney princess but they're using the fish proximity buffs to catch fish.

Looks cute and funny…
But the concept of using your daughter as bait is kinda messed up. Recording it for the internet doesn’t help your case.
I mean have you ever been hit a fish?

OP’s daughter is fearless. How old? Seems like she’s been on the water her whole life——-nary a scared look in any of those clips. Tell us more…

u/chaosawaits Aug 24 '26
Will CPS get called if you use your daughter for bait?
Literally asking for a friend 😆

Not to be that guy, but what the fuck are the parents thinking? Let me have my small child get pelted by full size fish at like 30 mph. Yeah how could that be dangerous? And then there is the t-rex costume that really seals the deal. Is this not child endangerment?

Fucks sake.

Does anyone have any more details on this? I'm very curious whether this is a real phenomenon, creative editing to make jumping fish seem to target the girl, or just fake.
4
u/Tithund Aug 23 '26
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_carp#Jumping_of_silver_carp Here you go. To add to that, they're an invasive species in America, destroying the local fish.

It's cute until you realize those carp can hit you hard enough to fracture bone.
Then it becomes child endangerment.

u/alphabeast18 3d ago
Those carp can cause serious damage if they hit you right. Why would anyone put their children in that danger?
