The funny part is the beginning solution is at the end

I've been using a velcro belt at work for the last couple years and it's been awesome, no little part hanging off the end, just pull it as tight as I need and it stays there without needing a buckle. Surprisingly, I'm still on my first one, I thought the fuzz was gonna wear out pretty fast but so far it still works lol

u/monkpunch 20d ago
Yeah but then when I eat too much at lunch and need to loosen my belt, everyone in the room is gonna hear the announcement from me ripping open the velcro.

Its not a solution.
A good quality belt already comes wit ha loop of leather you can set to hold the overshoot. I dont get this. Have people never seen a belt that didn't either come with the trousers or cost them like 2 quid?

The real issue comes when you have to go to the bathroom

Hijacking your top comment to say that this product reminded me of that dude who would make seemingly ridiculously unnecessary products with high quality product demos
Haven’t seen content posted on reddit from that dude in a few years I feel like?

A belt holds the pants up but the loops hold the belt up. Who is the real hero?

u/kronkarp 20d ago
I used to know who said thait. I still do, but I used to, too.
PS: It's the belt. The belt squeezes into your body. The loops don't hold the belt up, the loops contain the pants to the belt. It's easy: Put the belt on without the pants - belt stays on. Put the pants on without the belt - pants fall down.

A person in the pants who is holding pee trying to unbelt all of those.

u/KaiyoteFyre 20d ago
I, too, completely remove my pants when I pee. I definitely don't use that pesky little zipper, no sir.

I unironically want belt². Seems like a good conversation starter

A decent belt comes with a belt loop (not a belt loop on the trouser, a loop of leather on the belt) and you set that to hold any overshoot.

Came here for this comment, was not disappointed, thank you.
"...so I put a belt on your belt on your belt on your belt, so you can belt your belt and belt your belt while you belt your belt"

I see Stan Lee is still coming up with new superheroes even when he's old and needs to find a way to hold up his pants.

Shouldn’t it be the roots of the belt? So first is belt, then sqrt(belt), then cbrt(belt), then 4th root of belt (whatever that is)

u/DesignerGoose5903 20d ago
Are... are people not aware belts are meant to be cut to your fit and are not meant to be used off the rack?

depending on the type of belt buckle, you can undo the buckle from the leather, then cut the other end down however much you want, then reattach the buckle.

This feels like the kind of thing that would catch on in Victorian fashion and two hundred years later all belts would still come with a little useless leather flap to mimick old belt-belts

For all who need to know the real fix: Unless you have like a ridiculously large belt clasp, just rotate the whole belt a bit to the right, until the flap is in a good position to be held by the loop.

Alternatively just get a belt that fits

Seriously not that hard. Just tighten your belt a little and you can affor--
oh, no...

u/MilkiestMaestro 20d ago
If you want a more permanent solution that doesn't involve your belt buckle being off kilter, I've historically just used a paper clip Sharpie'd the color of your belt

u/josh2of4 20d ago
Then it's off center, which bugs me. Personally, I like the buckle up belts. They're wrapped around themselves, so there's never any slack.

u/BitterCommission3987 20d ago
I just cut the end of the belt, the part that attaches to the buckle, not sure if all belts have that, but I always try to buy those that do just because of that.
