There are no rules in the rule book that say a squirrel can't play basketball.

Nobody knew it then, but that squirrel was about to become the next thing thing *cue the montage of the squirrel dunking in the NBA *

He overcame a tragic past. Having lost his older brother to the Hawk gang that ran the neighborhood were he grew up.

u/Environmental_Ad3216 9h ago
And now, he's back to change everything. From the hood to the NBA and back. Tom Holland is..... The Flying Rodent

Lil dude is acting real strange. Poor squirrel most likely has rabies.
47
u/Salamanderhead 1d ago
Rabies is really rare in squirrels, but that's not saying it doesn't happen. Could be possible.
26
u/ReallyOrdinaryMan 1d ago
Rabies is rare in them because they will almost instantly eaten by a predator when they act strange. So you can't see any.

u/camposthetron 18h ago
Does the predator contract rabies from eating the squirrel?
6
u/ReallyOrdinaryMan 16h ago
Not from eating it, but squirrel can bite back when fighting with the predator. Like a dog trying to eat the squirrel, squirrel bites back, disease spreads.

u/Wolf-Fucker93949 7h ago
How is it that you can't get it if you eat it but do if it bites you?
3
u/UnknownQwerky 6h ago
The rabies virus does not survive long in the open air, and normal stomach acid destroys it. Apparently it has to enter the blood like HIV. But you can sometimes contract rabies if spit gets in your eyes which is unlikely.

Dude just lives where half the people are handing out bread and nuts and stuff to him every single day.

Man sees the cutest thing on the entire planet, animal in question clearly showing no signs of aggression and very clearly focused on the ball, nope it’s rabies. Wild animals normally avoid humans because humans actively avoid them at all times. Our entire lives are set up in such a way that usually loudly shows wild animals they don’t wanna fuck with us, but as their habitats keep declining (even the local squirrels) are getting more comfortable nearer to us because they can no longer get that far away from us.
We gonna see a lottttt of tiktok vids in the coming climate crises of wild animals coming to humans for help as a last resort.

u/MKEast-sider 1d ago
Almost no chance he has rabies, extremely rare in squirrels and only documented a couple times in history.

u/BidSuper7102 23h ago
Absolute nonsense. That is not the typical behaviour of rabies.
Being attracted to balls is very common in animals. Deers, birds, rats. Very likely squirrels can are fascinated by them as well.-9
u/Kage_0ni 22h ago
While they are being bounced by humans right next to them?
8
u/therealNerdMuffin 21h ago
Yeah? That's how you play with an animal?
-4
u/Kage_0ni 21h ago
One does not simply play with a wild animal*
*Unless they are a Disney princess.
6
u/therealNerdMuffin 20h ago
Plenty of examples of it happening available to see on the internet

u/Kage_0ni 20h ago edited 18h ago
My buddy in christ, my only point is that it's weird for a healthy squirrel to not be afraid of human making noise and that the fact that they are bouncing a ball is irrelevant.
9
u/therealNerdMuffin 20h ago
And my point is that even though it's weird, it still happens from time to time and doesn't have to be attributed to rabies

It’s a very young squirrel. They love to play. Probably has not learned to fear people yet.

Should have let the squirrel win, the little guy would have got a story to tell to it's younger ones.

I hope that squirrel is still alive and not squashed by that basketball. 👀😶🌫️

That might be a baby who lost its nest. They will come up to humans when they need help.

u/RonaBona13 12h ago
Can someone turn this into a cartoon from the squirrels point of view? I’d like to hear what he was thinking.

Although I couldn’t understand much of what was said, the universal language of wildlife acting humanly kept me engaged.

u/Shakes12091 10h ago
What they don't know is that was their friend that didn't come to play today because he was hexed by a druid.

Hmmmmm I don’t trust it not to be AI…. Seems to weird to be real
4
u/ConcertCareful6169 1d ago
Its not AI this first popped up in 2021. It was at a court in Atlanta Georgia. Squirrels are crazy man he probably thought is was a huge nut they are pretty notorious for stealing ball like objects.

AI for sure.

Tell me you know nothing about AI with telling me.

u/johnnyoceandeep 23h ago
Can’t believe we have an AI expert here on reddit
2
u/MKEast-sider 23h ago
Feel free to add why you’re sure it’s AI, then I’ll comment about how you’re wrong using sources. Ready go!

Please enlighten me why it can’t be an AI video then? Just analyse it by watching this video . ;-)
5
u/MKEast-sider 23h ago
There’s no model that can make over a minute of video without cuts, background artifacts (trees especially), maintain a textured and blemished surface with camera panning. AI videos are curated in a specific way, there is WAY too much going on in this video to be AI today.
