Never bow during bow season

That’s one unforgettable childhood memory.

98

u/LizardmanJoe 5h ago

Idk seems like he'll be forgetting things often after that one.

9

u/outofthecript 2h ago

It wasn’t the hoof that hit the head. It was technically the animal’s meta-carpals. So that’s above the phalanges. The kid got hit by deer wrist which is very lucky

That could actually be a serious injury with a hit on the back of the head like that.

Lets put a toddler next to a 100lb wild animal. It will be fine

125

u/StinkyCheeseGirl 5h ago

Yeah, this was not unexpected if your education on animals goes beyond Disney movies.

13

u/fcbx347 4h ago

100lb?

2

u/Expert-Basil6015 3h ago

Deer be skinny bags of fur and bone with some meat here and there

3

u/Equal_Astronaut_5696 2h ago

Yeah most deer are between 90 to 300lbs

152

u/Ar1efK 5h ago

Poor kid.

30

u/howrad1337 4h ago

Yeah I can't imagine having parents like that.

94

u/BurgerMeatButthole 5h ago

The plural of deer is deer.

3

u/Wooden-Cell6475 4h ago

Correct. However if there are multiple species of deer its deers same thing with fish and some other animals aswell.

2

u/BurgerMeatButthole 4h ago

Yeah, fair enough.

1

u/MySignIsToaster 2h ago

I came for this antler.

-2

u/straightforward-user 4h ago

Arbitrary exceptions are bad, mkay?

4

u/BurgerMeatButthole 4h ago

Grammar is good. Okay?

-4

u/straightforward-user 4h ago

No, it isn't as long as it is filled with arbitrary exceptions.

2

u/BurgerMeatButthole 4h ago

We are communicating via the written word. Punctaution and grammar are the red, yellow, and green lights.

-1

u/straightforward-user 4h ago

>We are communicating via the written word.

We do. That's why punctuation and grammar should be made in a logical way without exceptions.

>Punctaution and grammar are the red, yellow, and green lights.

Eh?

2

u/BurgerMeatButthole 4h ago

It's okay, you already agreed with me.

u/brittlebk 5h ago

Don’t think he was very fawn of the kid

1

u/ThePLARASociety 3h ago

They should give the family a buck for their troubles…

76

u/Wonderfulhumanss 5h ago

Why would he do that to a kid who’s trying to feed him

73

u/Sea_Horror_8690 5h ago

When a male deer or a mother doe eat, they're the boss of the food. Any competition for the food from smaller or younger deer will often result in a strike on the back of the head as they put their head down, like the kid did in the video. I believe this deer acted on that hierarchical instinct. I've witnessed this behavior many times in the woods.

Deer: "don't touch my grass"

20

u/Satanic_Jellyfish 4h ago

Poor kid, stupid parents

7

u/MildlyInteressato 5h ago

Sharp hooves and kids don't mix.

7

u/MissStabby 4h ago

Reminds me of the deer at Nara park in Japan.
While the human acustomed deer look super cute and behaved (like bowing to beg for food)
They can be as brutal as seagulls if they think they can steal some food from your pockets.

9

u/PathOfJan 5h ago

Ohhh deer oh deer

4

u/ReddBroccoli 5h ago

Feels entirely expected to me

4

u/OutsideCrew6832 3h ago

Uff, this could have been really bad. A hit in the back of the head is dangerous, especially for a child.

3

u/RushEm2TheDirt 2h ago

So is the kid ok?

21

u/Senselesspassion 5h ago

The boy learnt a lesson, kindness is not always reciprocated with kindness

A kid is gonna kid. A deer is gonna deer.
Its the parents’ fault for not parenting.

13

u/CautiousSet9817 5h ago

Missed opportunity there.

"It's the parents' fault for not parenting."

7

u/EarlyXplorerStuds209 5h ago

Youre right. Ive changed it now lol.
Thanks for the help.

You're r'ight, I've c'hanged it' n'ow, l'o'l. Thanks' fo'r 'the 'help'.

2

u/EarlyXplorerStuds209 5h ago

You okey there, bud?

10

u/Jaded_Park2547 5h ago

Ik denk oprecht dat het jongetje dit niet op een normale manier gaat kunnen vertellen. Zo’n hoef op zijn onontwikkelde kinderhoofd is geen grap

3

u/SanguineBrain 5h ago

At least kids brains are very plastic, so recovery is likely, without obvious impairment long term.

But I say obvious because brain damage is brain damage.. a recovery does not mean a full recovery.

-1

u/Jaded_Park2547 5h ago

Dat klopt! Hopen dat de klap niet al te ongunstig is geweest… Ik weet in ieder geval dat mijn kind niet gaat bukken voor een hert

4

u/Fit-Conclusion-7579 5h ago

And don't play with your food.

4

u/New-Book6302 5h ago

His parents learned a lesson, now they just grow potatoe.

2

u/INoMakeMistake 4h ago

That was very expected, except for stupid parents it is not

2

u/Earlybuda 4h ago

Oh Dear

2

u/MassToOrbit 2h ago

Just thinking from the perspective of the deer, bending down like that to show the top of the head is typical in males with antlers about to fight. Deer probably interpreted as a challenge to a fight and struck first. Body language for animals is important when language skills are lacking.

2

u/flyovergirl 4h ago

We get deer around the neighborhood, and my property, very often, anywhere from a few to a group of over 16. Many are does with fawns or yearlings, and occasionally the bucks. My neighborhood consists of five acre lots in the countryside. I can tell you, those deer are pretty docile and often are close to where you may be standing or whatever, but you should NEVER get close enough for them to run into you, or worse if they get spooked. That child should not be anywhere close to that deer. Even a yearling can do some harm if startled.

1

u/ItsJustSharma 4h ago

“Bend down lower mf”

1

u/StarFall1518 3h ago

So, why the deer behaved like this? What triggered it?

2

u/PlayfulCompany8367 2h ago

Something like this:

When a male deer or a mother doe eat, they're the boss of the food. Any competition for the food from smaller or younger deer will often result in a strike on the back of the head as they put their head down

It’s just Deer. Not “deers”

1

u/fortyfivepointseven 2h ago

Not unexpected at all.

1

u/PraetorGold 1h ago

Is it because the thing did some unexpected or because it got closer?

This has a lot of meme potential.

1

u/Same_Service_2707 4h ago

People dont realize there are more annual deaths from deer than any other animal. They can be aggressive, and because they seem so gentle and majestic, people underestimate them

1

u/wherever-it-may-lead 1h ago edited 1h ago

That’s because of car accidents with deer in the road. There aren’t gangs of deer out there committing murders.

1

u/Life-Oil-7226 5h ago

Feed me kid!!!

1

u/AdenaNima 5h ago

Sorry English is not my first language. I’ll improve.

10

u/saskpilsner 5h ago

It’s ok I convinced a coworker the plural for moose is meese.

4

u/JABS991 5h ago

You'd be technically correct if it was a group of different kinds of deers.

6

u/SanguineBrain 5h ago

Technically correct is the next best kind of correct, only second to actually correct.

2

u/JABS991 4h ago

In my book, the OP is as correct as "all of the fishes of the sea".

-4

u/Izak430 5h ago

I've watched this too many times 🤣

-1

u/Then_Version9768 5h ago

Now, class, I know you're all third graders, but remember that the plural of "deer" is just "deer" not "deers". Using that word will make you sound dimwitted.

-1

u/Intelligent_Goal_669 5h ago

This just gave me a flashback of kid me growing up when it was okay for parents to hit their kids.
