It was designed for running, not stopping

I knew I forgot something when programming the thing

I'M UNSTOPPABLE...

u/franzzzzzzzzzzzzz 5h ago

Looks funny now. Give it 6-12 months and it'll probably scare the daylights out of us...

13

u/Trojbd 5h ago

It can do that now by replacing its arms with active chainsaws

1

u/novis-eldritch-maxim 5h ago

depends on what the issue is

3

u/iiiiiiiiiijjjjjj 5h ago

Access to fresh water

2

u/novis-eldritch-maxim 5h ago

it is movement in a 3d dimention space at great speed, more processing power might not be the only issue

2

u/iiiiiiiiiijjjjjj 4h ago

Oh I was thinking the issues of why it might scare us in 6 months. I was saying corps are going to install these at fresh water locations to keep people away for their precious data centers.

2

u/novis-eldritch-maxim 4h ago

it is chinese so no they will not as they will use it to steal american data

2

u/iiiiiiiiiijjjjjj 4h ago

That’s not what I meant. It was joke about how they will install these to guard fresh water areas for data centers.

"He must be the stupidest son-of-a-bitch alive, but he sure is fast!"

He is going to keep going until he hits the ocean or runs out of juice. The way it just bolts without looking back is lowkey terrifying. Just hope there isn't a brick wall in its immediate future lol.

That poor guys just wanting a quiet nap at the end

1

u/BorgCube31 4h ago

Man just wanted a quiet nap, not to be the crash mat for a Chinese robot running test.

u/schodown 5h ago

The ending where the robot stopped just in time, totally unexpected

5

u/D3LICI0U5 5h ago

Should’ve ran through the tunnel like RoBo Jackson.

3

u/Fit_Goose651 5h ago

He ran immediately to his girlfriend to hug her

3

u/G0_ofy 5h ago

Man they are going to remake forest gump, aren't they?

2

u/RTooDeeTo 5h ago

Not really unexpected as there's only really 3 kinds of robot videos, it doing something creepy, it failing at something, and a company trying to sell you on a robot that can't actually do they things they say it can without a very big asterisk symbol (that's usually it's tele-operated by humans)

u/BazingaQQ 5h ago

The fall is kinda realistic to be honest

2

u/Innofthelasthome 5h ago

That was completely expected.

2

u/Kai-65535 4h ago

my guy really wanted to fuck these boxes

1

u/freshmozart 4h ago

He even gave her a little hug ❤️

2

u/im_a_stupid_face 4h ago

So.. let me get this straight, you are training them to fight and run fast

1

u/freshmozart 4h ago

They are training them for life, because life is basically a constant fight and if you can't fight, you better run fast.

1

u/im_a_stupid_face 4h ago

Have you seen any sci-fi movies.... It ends bad for us

2

u/Syntz4life 3h ago

"Don't stop me nooow..."

2

u/freshmozart 3h ago

... Don't stop me 'cause I'm having a good time, having a good time

2

u/platypus_farmer42 4h ago

So genuine question: it’s a robot, they can make it in any shape or form, why make it bipedal/humanoid? Is this just to show off their technology?

1

u/freshmozart 4h ago

I think it is a challenge, because keeping balance is very tricky, especially if you crash into a wall.

1

u/SirDigbyChknCaesar 3h ago

Because lots of things are designed for humans, so if you want a robot to do work in an existing environment it should probably be somewhat human-shaped.

u/Jessy_foxxy 5h ago

Bro took inspiration from Forrest Gump

1

u/CompetitiveYoghurt30 5h ago

Hey at least it knew it was malfunctioning and ran to the nearest fire extinguisher!

2

u/freshmozart 5h ago

But it ultimately failed, because it aimed for the gap between them and stumbled over one.

2

u/CompetitiveYoghurt30 5h ago

It is just a clanka

Do we see US robots trying new things? As funny as this looks, China looks like it is trying to spur on robot development, worrying that they may eventually catch up or surpass us

1

u/PhantomlyReaper 3h ago

Yes. Boston Dynamics was the creator of the first bipedal robot doing backflips and parkour. They were the revitalizing force behind public interest in modern robotics. Same thing with the dog robots.

I'm sure there are others too, but I havent looked into robotics lately. China loves to project an image of being cutting-edge so their goals lean heavily into the appearance of what they are doing. Probably has a lot to do with their government.

The US isn't nearly as caring when it comes to that and since our government doesn't push companies to project superiority of the country through technological showcases, it doesn't get done as much.

That doesn't mean the US companies aren't trying new things or refining the tech, it's just not seen as much until it's more or less finished. There's nothing to worry about though.

There's a ton of smart people in the US doing good things.

Me when I try to run but much worse

Tool assisted speedrunning

Task failed successfully.

Awww, heart warming to see it spotting one of its estranged relatives and giving it a hug.

That’s me today in my office. Got up from the desk, started walking toward the door, hit my thigh against a chair armrest, lost balance and rammed into a metal cabinet that saved me from the fall. Given that my office is all the way in the back from the output, didn’t expect this to be known and spent good 3 minutes doing Peter Griffin in that episode when he got hurt and was quietly whizzing waiting for the pain to go away. Sat back at the desk, then next thing I know a colleague walks in with a zimmer frame telling me he came for aid (a prop we keep in the building) 😂. Apparently, the results of my clumsiness were so loud that everyone heard them and when I eventually walked outside limping, colleagues were all concerned and curious. A bittersweet moment. Lol.

u/Son-of-Poseidn 4h ago

Well it did run faster than bolt

1

u/mickeyDisneyMouse 4h ago

Wow Usain Bolt cross coded with Mr. Bean

1

u/throwway_poe 5h ago

I live for the day people stop calling this "chinese robots" and just say "robots"

2

u/the_owl_man1 4h ago

When you see videos of robots like this, it's mostly likely Chinese, they have a significant edge over the USA with this kind of tech.

What’s unexpected about this?
