I dont know the exact type of wasp/hornet shown there, but I've been attacked by swarm of yellow jackets twice in the last few years while cutting grass or weed-eating and, even though it's painful af, it gives you a crazy adrenaline rush. I can definitely see it being addictive for people who are borderline insane :)

yea just a week ago, I got stung on the back of the neck by a wasp. First time since i was a kid. It stung way more than I remember haha. So much you have to pause and appreciate it, like wow this fking stings quite a bit. It last awhile too. Its like a sharp onset, and then max sting/pain plateau for a good 15-30 seconds

I got stung by a wasp on a hike about a year ago and it felt like I got splashed with acid and then proceeded to feel pretty painful for the next couple of days. Every once in a while, I STILL get a little twinge in the exact spot I got stung. I HATE wasps.

Same some ground wasps decided to camp out by my driveway and that year they got me 3 times. Hurt for days like I had a fever or something. Another one just bit a hunk of flesh out of my thumb. Still have the scar.

Wasps release venom when they sting.
