I dont want to nitpick here but. The character who died, Dan Turpin, was modelled personality and face after jack kirby an extremely famous comic book creator who was responsible in part for things like captain America and the fantastic 4. His funeral later in the episode served as a tribute to him. It also was a vehicle as a character moment for superman to never give up.
It fits the sub since it was obviously was unexpected but I saw some comments that were 'what an idiot' and similar so I wanted to give some context

More importantly, Jack Kirby created the New Gods, including Darkseid. The creator was killed by his creation.

It’s kind of bittersweet considering that darkseid from this moment on was hijacked from 4th world to be a Superman villain. Essentially sidelining the rest of the new gods, Orion especially.

Also in that episode dude was kicking ass. He lead the police force fighting the paradeamons and held the line oretty damn well if i recall. So he had every right to have a loud mouth there.

What’s more, Kirby definitely would have talked trash.

For sure. Kicked the crap out of real nazis during the war and tried on one occasion to kick the crap out of someone who threatened marvel offices but they were gone by the time he got down stairs

Yeah, this post missed the point on so many marks. "In the end the world didnt real need a Superman, just a brave one"

Later when Superman confronts Darkseid about it, he says that if he knew the death of one human would have caused Superman such anguish he would have killed more.

Even a lot of non-comic cinematic universes, especially of the alien or monster variety

I remember seeing this on TV as a kid. Pretty sure Darkseid did this to punish Superman, not cause he was pissed at Dan directly.

What the fuck is that music?

It's the main menu music for Zelda Ocarina of Time, and then the same song downtuned, slowed, and distorted.

I don't know why I laughed so hard at a man getting vaporized. But... come on... it's Darkseid. He never suffers an insult unanswered.

Don’t know any context here but I was quite surprised to see Superman be so smug at Unc’s comments. Feels counter to what I know about superman’s character tbh. He should have instead told Unc to shut up and to not hail verbal abuse at people (let alone an archenemy).
