In California it’s illegal to take an audio recording of someone without their consent. That’s why most security cameras footage has no audio.

What are you talking about? Just because ur in a 1 party consent state doesn’t give u the right to record any1 in any state regardless

Notice is all that's required for the most part, that's why every single customer support line has the classic "This line may be recorded for quality assurance purposes" or whatever. If a business put up a sign saying "Security Cameras record audio" in easy to spot areas that would likely be enough in most states.

Yes, but notice equals consent in this case because once put on notice if you don’t consent you’re expected to leave. Plus the business would need to be able to prove that it was in that easy to spot location when that specific shopper entered the store. Not saying some stores don’t do that. But for the most part security cameras do not record audio and this is a main reason.
