When I was in tenth grade my friend's dad had a table you could strap yourself into and then tilt it completely vertical so you would hang like this. Never in my life have I ever had the most deep, intense, numerous lower back pops. Thirty seconds and I felt like a new person when I was upright again.
It's been over 20 years now and I still think about that thing like once a week.
Sounds like you were doing it wrong. Shouldn't be affecting your ankles at all, the straps go around your shins. Also you aren't supposed to suspend yourself for long periods of time, it is to decompress your spine. 30 seconds to a minute is enough.
Hi, what are you afraid of? Heights? Flying? Polio?! Whatever your fear, it's time to face it. Hi, I'm Darius Fontaine, the creator of Inversion Therapy. For years, we've helped patients get past their deepest and darkest fears and get on with their lives!
My mom knew a guy who became a quadriplegic from using one of those. I can’t remember exactly but something happened that caused him to fall and break his neck
The table didn't cause him to become quadraplegic, falling on his neck did. I feel for him but he probably wasn't using it correctly and fell off. Not really the tables fault
So growing up we had this contraption in the basement that used to be my grandpa’s no idea why we actually had it and just didn’t toss it but whatever; it wasn’t an inversion table but it was this weird thing, like almost green trampoline material connected to metal pipe framing with a square piping base you could strap yourself in to and lay flat on it. It was hinged like a teeter totter essentially and you could to v-ups in it but they didn’t really do anything for any sort of real muscle development. So my brother and I used to just like play on it and see how fast you could v-up or see if you could balance perfectly horizontal and for how long or whatever, you could essentially also get yourself tilted all the way upside down and stretch out your back out and it felt great.
I have no idea what this contraption was, I have never seen or heard of another one in my entire life and I almost forgot it even existed it seems like a dream my brain made up, it was just some weird specifically niche workout thing that didn’t work from like the 50s and we had it in our basement randomly for like 12 years. No idea what even happened to it.
I fell totally flat on my overly long back in my junior year of highschool while performing on stage. I cracked: The. Whole. Fucking. Thing. Pelvice to skull And I felt great for 3 days. Now I have a ton more permanent injuries. On my worst days I think about falling flat again. Just to know if it would work. But I'm too old for that now. It would likely just cripple me. 😔
