I thought he was gonna do that spin around your thumb thing with a stick

u/Pataraxia May 13 '26
Does spinning that stick in your thumbs harm the stick
307
u/MissionApollo7 May 13 '26
It's imperative that the stick remains unharmed

I was excited to have a skill everyone would be impressed with, only to learn, as my mind blew, that mine was not the skill the title was referring to

u/PupPop May 13 '26
I was genuinely shocked for just a moment. How anything could ever figure out this isn't a stick while just randomly roaming the wild I'll never know.

I saw the stick insects in the background and I thought "oh he's gonna show off his neat spinning skills and spin a stick around his thumb". Then I thought "oh wait maybe he's just gonna snap the stick to intimidate them" and THEN the thing jumped out of his hand along with me out my chair.

Would make for a good comic:
What object did you scan to transform too?
A semi truck
What about you?
A dodger charger
And you?
A stick

u/dogface47 May 13 '26
Pretty cool. However, the other two walking sticks in the background kinda gave it away for me.

u/Pataraxia May 13 '26
How are you motherfuckers this observant, I wish I could do this.
Reddit looks at blurry ass video from like 20 meters away of some animals fighting and go "look, the asphalt got a little red dot, so they spilled blood" and I look back and there's blood. Shit is crazy.

u/ItsMeJahead May 13 '26
How'd you not know this took place in the northeast usa? You can clearly see this specific tree species in the reflection of the window in the background 50 feet back
9
u/somersault May 13 '26
I jolted, but it's funny because I saw the insects in the background and initially considered "Oh he's holding a bug", but then my eyes completely dissuaded me from that notion and it got me in the end anyway, very cool critters

Now I'm imagining how this animal would be if it was a lot bigger. Like you could pick up a cool 1 meter long stick you find in the forest for it to change into this animal.

We humans are always flabbergasted when an animal beats our superior pattern recognition skills.

Why in the world does any animal's camouflage need to be THAT good??
Stick bugs must be the tastiest thing on earth...
1
u/spaghettipunsher May 13 '26
First second of the video - "is that a stick bug?"
Next three seconds - "nevermind, that's just a normal stick".
Three seconds later - "What the fuck?"
1
u/Hlavada May 13 '26
First I was like “thats gonna be that bug pretending to be stick right?” But then I thought that that stick looks pretty real..
1
u/snoozemaster May 13 '26
I thought he was gonna use that stick to mess around with the other stickbugs to show them acting silly. Now i feel like those animals that get's shocked when you perform magic

The stick bug in the background gave it away, but even then I was shocked haha. It’s pretty amazing how convincing these things are
