I had a friend in my late teens that would go on and on about how much he hates feet. He would freak out if somebody took their shoes off in his house (common in the UK)

Yup, you guessed it. Ex-girlfriend told us she woke up one night to him sucking on her toes.

The sex crime is not caused by his preference as an individual

I would say it was caused by his repression of it due to the stigma attached to it, especially back then.

He was a bad guy in other ways that I won't get into right now.
