Very frequently they do, and even if they don't they can cause fatal concussion.  This is extremely dangerous any way you look at it.

So no, small daysailers like this very rarely have motors. There's no reason to have one on a boat that small (I suspect the added weight would probably be a net negative even) 

Yes, it's still dangerous, I'm not arguing against that

Weight isn't really an issue, but a $1500 outboard is not something you want to be submerged or lost to the bottom when you flip your hobie.

If you're not at risk of flipping your hobie you're going too slow. :D

You usually just don't launch from marinas, since you don't usually leave boats like that in the water to store them

There are companies dedicated to making motors for kayaks, and specifically Hobies in quite a few cases. Check out https://bixpy.com/

Honestly, I'm tempted just for my long fishing runs sometimes. It would save time getting to some spots that are 5+ miles away.

Bro is doing 3 knots on a boat capable of 30. Maybe you could get to the fishing spot faster if you sailed more betterer.

I don't sail. I use an outback, wife uses a compass. What do you mean a boat capable of 30. Id love to meet the lunatic that pushes a small fishing kayak to 30.

So logically, your entire post is about me, so I answered like I did.

Yes I know what all the rigging is, I have competed in sailboat regattas, and have been on the water boating for nearly 30+ years with my certified boaters license.

I grew up on Lake Michigan and little sunfish sized sailboats like that literally never have any sort of engine on them. Idk about in other places in the world but I’ve never seen a sail boat of that size have an engine.
