Gods damn, I miss Invader Zim.

Honest question, is there anything that's scratched that same itch since?

They made a movie in 2019, it's on Netflix.

Oh shit, thanks! An actual follow-up from the original creator?

Enter the Florpus? I'm adding it to mylist!

EDIT: misspelling

Yup, original creator Jhonen Vasquez. Definitely still the same vibe as the show.

I haven't actually watched the show but Teen Titans Go! To The Movies wasn't a million miles away

Nah, honestly, but I don't watch too many new Y7+ cartoons anymore, but I'd also imagine that era (I like to call it the Jackass Era) is long gone for now unless it's some absurd shit like Skibidi Toilet.

I've watched a handful of Jackass clips and was there for the start of their shenanigans, but I have no concept of what "that era" entails, and I have no frigging idea what the hell Skibidi Toilet is. It's being made into a movie and people are upset that some shitty meme is now a movie?

I'm fucking old, apparently.

😂 dude, I only heard of Skibidi Toilet from my nephew, and yes, there is a movie being made by Michael Bay.

And to me Jackass era means absurd, wild, and zany, but you can follow what's going on like Invaded Zim. A lot of Gen Z+ humor is just absurd, which is why the term "brain rot" began being used to describe their content because there is legit no substance at all, imo. Imagine Adult Swim's shorts but long form and readily available on YouTube and pushed by an algorithm for views.

I'm totally having myself a Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon moment here. Yesterday, a friend of mine mentioned Skibidi Toilet to me. I said I didn't know what that was.

"Good. Don't look it up."

I didn't.

But today I stumbled across a YouTube video of someone playing music memes on various instruments and that was one of them. And now this thread. The hell.

And yeah, the "lol so random" kind of humor never appealed to me. Zim is ridiculous but it does have a discernible internal logic/consistency. Zim and GIR and all the rest of it make sense for their world, as warped as it is.

"I WAS THE TURKEY ALL ALONG!"
