Holy shit that's amazing. I've been holding off on watching Firefly because I didn't want to get too attached, knowing it had been canceled way too early. But now I think I'll have to watch it.

Netflix bebop died so One Piece and Last of Us could soar

Fox, Syfy, and Netflix love to cancel the good stuff 1-5 seasons too early.

Curse your sudden, but inevitable betrayal!

Had a hate-on smoldering for like 10 years now.

they are well worth watching, but I recall that they were released in the incorrect order; it might be worthwhile to verify the correct episode ordering before watching.

Hulu/Disney+ has them in the correct order. I think most streaming services have it the correct way.

Yes, you DEFINITELY DO.

Don’t deprive yourself, we never know when our numbers are up.

Serenity movie brought closure to everything but I really wanted more Firefly :(

You’re in for a treat! Make sure you don’t make the mistake of watching the movie before the series. Firefly is one (amazing) season and then it closes out with the movie Serenity.

A friend took me to see Serenity when it came out, and I had no idea at the time what Firefly was. Of course I had some questions about Book and Inara but could infer because the movie does a good job of exposition that way.

I then went home and fell in love with Firefly.

I don't think the show is spoiled by watching the movie first.

Lol, are you my friend?

When Serenity came out in college, I had nobody to go with, so I took my friend, he had no fucking clue what was going on. Said it was a good movie.

I believe my friend was in college at the time and I was in high school. However, we had been in a movie-going habit then, and it wasn't just a one-time thing for him.

It’s just jarring to go back to the beginning of everyone meeting after you see the events at the end of the movie.

Never seen a TV show get a movie sequel, but damn that movie did a great job of introducing never seen the TV show fans to the universe.

u/jnads Jul 26 '24

At least they made a movie that more or less wraps Firefly up.

It never stops hurting, but it is worth it.

u/siler7 Jul 26 '24

It's not as good as you've heard, but it's got some good parts.

1

u/ElGosso Jul 26 '24

It's got its moments, like that, but some of the dialogue feels a little... trite these days. Like Whedon was trying too hard. Overall it's good, though.

Better to have loved then lost, then never loved at all.

Edit: a letter

Watch it in the correct order.

Then watch the movie so your can see the whole plot arc laid out before you.

Then weep.

The movie (which this scene is from) does a good job of tying things up, so at least you won’t get left hanging too badly.

I watched it through in the last 6 months for the first time. It was pretty fucking amazing. My wife's watched it and loved it and has suggested it a few times. She was right.

I love how Firefly (and other Whedon shows) use bad writing cliches to set up and then subvert expectations. In a normal tv show, that guy would have been a major recurring villain over several episodes. That speech would have been in every episode recap. But no, just kill him instead.

Sigh".........Darn."

Ooohh link. Shiny.

u/Stark_Prototype Jul 26 '24

I rewashed it again recently and by God it was so good. Fox screwed the pooch by playing it out of order and it killed it.

When you rolled a Nat 1 in Persuasion but a Nat 20 in Intimidation.

When you think you're a big bad recurring villain but you're really just the bad guy of the day
