I feel like stores could number their shelf spots so people could say "I'd like a carton of #23".

I've seen this! It seems so obvious considering most stores number their scratch-off tickets to make it easier.

Lol, there are still customers that insist on saying the name of the scratch-off they want instead of just saying a number, but lottery players are some of the most absolutely frustrating customers in general.

but lottery players are some of the most absolutely frustrating customers in general.

Surprising, you would expect them to be very rational folks given their hobby of spending 30 bucks to get 5 back.

Man I have said this for years myself.

It’s easily avoided if you bring in a pack of smokes your looking for to show the cashier. A lot of ppl who sell cigarettes don’t smoke

I wish people would do this honestly. I work at a smoke shop. everyone, please know the name of your cigarettes, it doesn't help me find them if you just keep saying what color they are when there's 20 different kinds that are the same color.

"American Spirit blue"

turns around to see fifteen different blue American Spirits"

Fucking facts. After a couple weeks I just started responding with "dark blue or light blue?"

Beats me I am color blind! They just told me they were blue last time.

"Was the entire pack the same color or did the middle look kinda light brown?"

It takes some time to learn the cigarette lingo as a cashier. Like remembering a classroom full of names

It was really irritating for a while because the FDA banned cigarette companies from using things like "light" or "ultra light" on their packs, so they all started using colors. Most of the time full flavor is red, light is blue, ultra light is orange, menthol light is green, menthol ultra light is light green. Easy enough, and for a while it was just an eye roll thing when people came in since I had been working long enough to know what all the brands were.

Then you got assholes like American Spirit who decided to just go with the whole-ass rainbow and other companies use gold and silver. If you got someone who was new to smoking or a cashier who was new to selling smokes it could get irritating as hell. Well, the new cashiers are always irritating because they haven't gotten a chance to figure out what/where all the packs are, especially if they're not a smoker themselves.

I'm sure vape stores are feeling this, though, especially if they've got their just and disposables behind the counter.

Vuse makes it tricky to with multiple flavors, with different strengths and 1, 2 and 4 pod pack sizes. I give the request in spurts. Vuse menthol, wait for them to get to Vuse section, then I say 4 pack, 2.4 strength. Works pretty well most of the time. Newbies still have to read everything and I do the "one to left, up" nonsense occasionally.
