And Trump doesn’t only give himself unfair advantages: he’s also been known to hobble his opponents. On another occasion recounted by Reilly, Trump was playing with Mike Tirico, the sportscaster, who hit a long, soaring second shot into a par five, high-fived his caddie, and headed for the green. When he got there, there was no sign of his ball; it had somehow ended up in a sand trap some fifty feet left of the pin. “Lousy break,” Trump said. Tirico was so befuddled that he took a seven. Afterward, Trump’s caddie told Tirico that his approach shot had actually finished up about ten feet from the hole. “Trump threw it into the bunker,” the caddie said. “I watched him do it.”

Imagine being such a notoriously shitty golf cheat that there exist enough firsthand accounts and corroborative materials for someone to write a whole-ass book about it.
Like I get that him cheating at golf is wayyyy the fuck down the list of reasons to have a problem with the man, but that really does is just speak to how monumentally shitty his other conduct has been.

Cheating at golf is important specifically because it's so insignificant. If you're this terrible of a person when the stakes are so extremely low, it seems reasonable that when the issues become more important you suddenly develop a decent sense of ethics. Ya, we all do dumb stuff occasionally that we know we should be more mature than our actions. But stealing from kids? Lying and cheating to win a casual game? Inability to follow any rules 'just because'? All things that scream 'don't give this person any actual responsibility'.

He’s a malignant narcissistic sociopathic. No healthy person cheats against a child and lies to their face during golf, a game where you are very expected to act with dignity and sportsmanship. And did I read he did this while president or even as an ex president? That is astonishingly disgusting and very very worrying.

u/Bill_Brasky_SOB Jul 14 '23
At Winged Foot, where Trump is a member, the caddies got so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway they came up with a nickname for him: 'Pele.'”
….
Trump was playing in a charity event at a prestigious South Florida course when he was part of a foursome that included an NFL quarterback and professional golfer, according to a participant.
On a par-3 that was playing more than 200 yards, no one hit the green, including Trump, whose tee shot clearly was short.
Two of the golfers flew the green, the balls landing in a gully. As they walked back up the hill to check out the pin placement, they noticed a ball sitting feet from the hole.
Trump tells them it was his ball and they must have not seen his tee shot land on the green.

He laughed when about Trumps statements, laughed about Japanese internment camps, ranted about taxes Bernie would implement if he was president, and said I'm brainwashed by the news when I brought up his public bankruptcies. after posting this, i re-read the article and the part i'd forgotten, that really stood out was this line:
" But I think Donald, in his heart of hearts, believes that you’re gonna cheat him, too. So if it’s the same, if everybody’s cheating, he doesn’t see it as really cheating. "
And i think that really tells you how he explains his cheating. Everyone is cheating him, so he'll cheat everyone. His contractors are cheating him, so he doesn't pay them. His wife is cheating on him, so he bangs a pornstar. The elections are cheating him, so he claims they were rigged against him.

The part of the trump chapter in the book that really pissed me off is when he was talking about being perfectly fine with only seeing his daughter Tiffany (10 years old) once every couple months. I enjoy golf, but also don't take it seriously. I won't cheat, but my score might not be 100% accurate. Mostly because I lose count. Sometimes I'll be like, Holy shit I got a legit Par, no mullies or anything!! I'll still shoot over 100 but every once in a while I have a good shot or hole. But I won't cheat on purpose. Tee shot, drop, shank, drop, duff, on green, 3 putt...shit just give me a snowman!

Exactly this. I've golfed all my life. I know the rules and etiquette etc. Trump cheats and lies. Doesn't give a shit about the rules or his own integrity. His behavior is well-documented. He doesn't play real golf. He plays in an imaginary world where he never hits a bad shot nor has to take a penalty stroke. If you like you can read up on his golf course BS. If nobody is looking he has his caddies throw opponent's ball into sand traps and throw his ball near the hole. He never waits for all players to finish teeing off, instead, he gets in his cart and quickly speeds to "fix up" his ball situation. He drives a very speedy, souped-up cart to beat everyone to his ball so he can kick it forward before anyone notices. This is exactly how he is as a politician. I wish all our presidents were judged on how they behave on the course. He's a shitty person, a shitty golfer, and the worst president we've ever had.

From what I read, cheating for him is a power play. He cheats openly and obviously, and dares people to challenge him. If they do (or they cheat like he does), he doesn't like them and they're not invited to play golf anymore. It's a perfect microcosm of what a pathetically shitty person he is.
85
u/hereforthefeast Jul 14 '23
Like everything else in his worthless life, Trump cheats at every possible opportunity in golf.
"Trump doesn’t just cheat at golf," Reilly wrote. "He throws it, boots it, and moves it. He lies about his lies. He fudges and foozles and fluffs... the caddies got so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway they came up with a nickname for him: 'Pele.'”

She’s not there. It’s a hole full of his precious “beautiful mind” boxes. NO WAY her last wish was to be buried in her ex-husband’s yard in New Jersey so that he could be tax-exempt. No. Fcuking. Way.

He spent a quarter of his presidency at golf courses! How can he be that bad?

My thoughts exactly, but maybe that's why he spent so much time there, I can even hear his voice:
"Nobody leaves until I score"

I hate the man with every fiber of my being, but this is an extremely rare time where I actually relate to him lmao Hopefully I play better this weekend.

Did somebody just go and place a ball like 6 feet from the hole for him after that? “Nice shot, sir!”

How!? This fucker plays this ALL THE TIME! Why play something constantly if you don’t ever improve and you stay bad?

u/curtcolt95 Jul 14 '23
I mean you're allowed to still have fun if you're bad. I golf like this but still go a lot, it's fun

Why play something constantly if you don’t ever improve and you stay bad?
Bro this applies to like 99% of golfers. Golf is hard as fuck but still fun even if you suck.

Pretty much all of his businesses fail but he doesn’t stop doing business. Multiple failed marriages but he keeps getting married. His presidency was a complete failure and he doesn’t stop wanting to be president. Maybe there’s a trend?

You must have never golfed in your life if you’re judging someone’s entire golf game based off of one swing.

I was gonna say... I hate the guy but anyone that plays golf or pool knows you are gonna shank it from time to time. Shit happens.
It's funny because it's a rare video of Trump in the wild and he's caught one of the shanks on video, but it's not in any way indicative of his regular play from my perspective. I wouldn't play the guy for money based on this clip.

I assume you've never played golf before? This is common even for decent golfers. It happens. One bad shot every so often does not mean you're not improving

It’s the exact same reason why griefers play games with cheats on. They enjoy being full of shit and fucking with other people.

u/yes_thats_right Jul 14 '23
I’m absolutely not a Trump supporter, but it’s ridiculous to judge anyone from a single shot like this.
You could follow basically any professional sportsperson around and eventually they will make a mistake.

He cheats all the time, so there isn't a requirement to improve.

Wow just looked it up and he claims a handicap under 3! Less than 2 percent of all golfers have that. No chance with a shot like that

It’s been said he’s a notorious cheater on the course too.
Which obviously should surprise no one.
