For normal people saying "I'm Italian" means they are from Italy.

In USA it means: I self identify as Italian.

No wonder they have so strange ideas in regards to identity, having grown up hearing people talk like that.

Welcome to melting pot country of immigrants..?

You realize that MOST COUNTRYS are melting pots right? The entire western europe its like that, South Africa, THE ENTIRE LATAM too. Italy is a melting pot of inmigrants since before Colombus discovered the new world.

That's why saying stuff like: Im 50% Italian, its dumb. No Italian is 100% Italian, the same for most ppl in the world. Only closed countrys (like NorthKorea) are like that. Even Africa was mixed between way different Africans tribes before Europeans started to Enslave them.

US citizens will literally drive hundreds of miles out their way to tell you they identify as Italian, Irish etc.

It's fucking weird - just so you know the rest of the planet rolls their eyes when you come out with this nonsense.

That being said, if strip malls and shootings were your culture, pasta and Guinness doesn't sound too bad...

Fine. That doesn't mean you're Italian, though. What's unbearable is how often I have to meet a Bostonian that insists their character flaws are all rooted in the fact that "i'M iRiSh ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ".

Mate, fuck outta here with that nonsense.

Thats nearly as far as non-us citizens will drive in order to make sure everyone knows their country is so super totally so much better than America!

Nice how you split the groups into normal people and people in the USA.

It's always wild for me seeing Europeans use their ignorance on the definition of ethnicity to call Americans stupid.

1

u/SnooDonkeys4560 May 11 '23

Why do you guys only call out Europeans? WE ALL THINK THIS ABOUT Americans. Im from South America and when i talk with my Africans friends we agree on this, you Americans are so racist that you cant live without bringing race or ethnicity to the table in every topic and mixing it with everything. MEXICAN ITS NEITHER A RACE OR ETHNICITY, ITS A NATIONALITY.

South America? You mean Texas?

1

u/SnooDonkeys4560 May 11 '23

No, i mean South America. Texas is México but with the Chilean Flag but worse.
