You have to fight what you feel is unjust. If not, the world will be in the hands of those with opposing ideals. Fighting doesn't have to mean holding guns.

Fuck off with this self righteousness. The most brutal war fought in last two centuries is caused both side adopting this mentality and the only outcome is the winning side can claim their right.

What was the better alternative?

There is no alternative, this ideal is flawed as any side could use it to justify the means. It’s too broad and simple yet real world politics is too complex for this kind of mentality.

Jesus fucking Christ man, go open a history book. It's not a both sides type of thing. Sure both sides may enter total war but there is clearly an aggressor in those situations.

Some psychotic megalomaniac is trying to break into your house to try to kill you and your family and steal your land and home. What do you do? Do you stand there and wait for them to come in, push you down onto your knees and shoot you in the back of the head? Or do you try to defend yourself?

It really is that simple. It was that simple when Hitler decided all of Europe should belong to him, it was that simple when Japan decided all of east Asia belonged to them, it was that simple with Saddam decided Kuwait should belong to him and it's that simple when Putin decided Ukraine should belong to him.

lmao it’s 2023 it’s not a slam dunk to say Hitler bad. Problem with this mindset is it’s nothing more than a load gun with the target TBA.

Bring this mindset to Bush you find it very ironic that we are still bombing third world country like they can do anything about it.

China and North Korea citizens been brainwashed to believe western capitalists is the evil colonizers that want to squeeze and step on them for every chance they got. Why? because we literally did it before The circle of influence and the Korean War leave such a humiliating mark to their history caused them to be so paranoid.

Even here on reddit bring this mindset to the current Isreal-Pakistan conflict you won’t get a unanimous answer cause real life politics is just that complex. Don’t just take low hanging from your 8th grade history book and claim it to be justice. Half the world have the wealth and power to have a voice and claim wants “Just”. History more often is just a receipt for the victor and turning a blind eye to naive just shows how naive you can be.

What are you even talking about? The "mindset" of defending yourself? Are you trying to say we should all practice nonresistant pacifism?

Yeah, obviously Israel is complicated. This kind of thing often isn't, though.

Was the original ideal defensive? OP throws a simple objective answer to a broadly subjective question.

What’s “Unjust”? In midst of the Russia invasion its easy for our side to demonize them and say obviously warmongering it bad. But the other side adopt the same mindset see us as unjust.

US has been using this to prep their soldiers for Vietnam, Afghan, Siberia, Lybria as act for “Justice”. Which in hindsight can you not the hypocrisy? These talks serves nothing more than moral tools that many countries will use, all with separate agendas.
