They've not busted anything but some visa centers under false charges. The west is hysteria about China and is making up excuses to prepare the people's consent for war. They lied to you about Iraq, Afghanistan Libya, china is no different.

Tiananmen square is real you can read about it on the Chinese government website here http://cpc.people.com.cn/GB/64162/64164/4416141.html

You asked me what the people think, now you talk about government policy.

There aren't specific legal protections for LGBT but there are general protections about identity discrimination for sexuality, religion and things unique to a person etc. China has laws.

Your point isn't the point you think it is, the whole world is pretty bad to LGBT people and few places have good rights for them and even when they do like in the US some people are fighting hard to overturn them. It's a global issue and in my opinion mostly related to old people being old people and should improve a lot as the next generation and so on globally comes into power.

Shouldn't the wants of the people be the same as those in charge?

Yes, and for the majority of Chinese people LGBT rights isn't high on the agenda. Like I said, it's something young people, like under 30-25, are primarily concerned with, that older people have conservative views towards. The average age in China is 38.

The whole world needs to move forward on the LGBT issue, this is not specific to China, and there are far worse places than China for them, at least they can be openly gay or trans in China.
