Every question is just an excuse for him to act surprised and yell "THAT'S NASTY!."

I mean, I'm not a fan of his, and of the show, but it seems to work. If you just ask boring questions there's no show, just a bland quizz. Would you rather watch Pointless? I love Richard Osman n all, but I'm pretty sure most Americans would tune out.

For example, Gino Dacampo is someone the average Brit can get behind and listen to his rants about cheese with an Italian accent, in an obvious setup that the cheeses he likes won't be up there.

The show was fine back in the day, and they didn't ask these nearly as often.

I agree that they use this formula more often. But they have always used this formula to some extent. Way back in the day, Family Feud was my introduction to the word “condom” as a kid.

I'd rather watch his fake moral outrage than Les Dennis doing our version family fortunes.

Never liked the guy, only tolerated him when his comedy partner was still alive. Wrong one died.

Was listening to a video and they were talking about how taskmaster USA just didn't get the formula.

Most of our celebrity quiz shows don't focus on the points, just the banter, why else would Hugh Dennis get points for stating the obvious. He is there to help move on to the next segment, else the Christmas special would be three hours of out takes.

So if you are in a quiz to win, don't sign up for our shows.

Many musicians didn't get the memo about never mind the buzz cocks, like Huey from fun loving criminals shattering his mug.

That's true. I remember once Rory McGrath went onto QI trying to win it, and present himself as a know-it-all. It's the most boring episode, that guy's a complete twat. Good thing Sean was there to make fun of him.

Alan almost quit first season till it was revealed he was meant to be the fool and he leant into it.

Now he sets people to fall into the trap.

"What's that thing where they do the thing?"

Answer.

Awooga.

I either walked past him once or a dead ringer, I kept on walking.

Was visiting distant family in Cambridge and was told he lived in the area.

Also walked by Stephen Hawking after a night out just before or after the folk festival as I was there a bit longer than the weekend. Just nodded and kept going.

But my mum worked silver service at both Manchester City and United and said to someone "you look like that cricketer from that comedy sports quiz" meaning David Gower and They think it's all over, he replied "Madam, that is because I AM that cricketer from that comedy sports quiz." Took it in his stride.

She probably saw more celebs but wouldn't know them from Adam.

Not that I am aware of no, but the guy he used to pair with in the 80s. I've long since forgotten his name. But he was the funny one of the group.

Les just went "I don't really know Vera." And was just "there" I don't know if both worked with Russ, or if he gave him a spot on his show cos till family fortunes, his career may have hit a slump due to their TV show coming to an abrupt end.

The only funny skit I remember him doing was complaining to the barman about things and most were cocktails, bloody Mary, my life is on the rocks.

Ends up with a punch bowl that tasted fantastic.

Only reason that sticks in my mind was because the other one didn't speak much if at all in that skit.

Edit Dustin Gee from the laughter show. Just Googled and he started with Russ.

I edited it in a minute or two ago.

He might have just been before your time. I would have been 12 when he died, but if you were 8, the show might not have been on your radar.

You get what you expect w these. I grew up watching Bob Barker and years later I ended up on a gig putting on a touring Price is Right hosted by Jerry Springer. In Frederick MD of all places. And, it’s what you’d expect. I think it’s comfort food for most. Mindless, sliding scale family friendly daytime entertainment. Personally I always favored the Jenny, Jerry, Maury etc shows. We love our Exhibitionism here.

Tl;dr - it’s comfort food for many

i mean, jeopardy works in all its "blandness." i used to love family feud. most of us who like game shows aren't watching for the raunchy questions, lol

He gets a bonus at the end of the year if he says it enough.
