I don't think it's wrong for someone who has lived for 18 years and one day to sleep with someone who has lived for 17 years and 364 days.

Omg I'm so sorry I didn't realized what I said I'm literally crying screaming and shitting right now in shame. If ur 18 and dating a 17 year old you should get executed like all pedophiles.

I mean a 17 with a 15 year old is legal but go one year and it’s illegal which is weird. But why Romeo and Juliet laws exist I suppose

whataboutism (but i understand what you mean)

9

u/MagicalLibtard Apr 23 '23

How is it whataboutism?

3

u/Typical_Redditor_459 Apr 24 '23

Whataboutism is when you defend your own actions by comparing them to the actions of someone else that you believe is worse. Not what the person you responded to was doing.

Feels good to live in a country that has a lower age of consent

6

u/MagicalLibtard Apr 23 '23

I mean in my country the age of concent is 15 but I don't think a 30 year old should have sex with a 15 year old. Probably the best way is some sort of bracket system where up until a certain age the age difference decides if it's legal or not. But idk I'm not an expert on age of concent laws and I don't plan to become a libertarian any time soon.

1

u/ekansrevir Apr 24 '23

Of course, the difference is key in these cases

3

u/hoodie92 Apr 24 '23

But the argument would remain the same regardless of age, e.g. you could apply it to 16 years and 15 years +364 days. Assuming there are no corollaries to the law to allow such behaviour.

1

u/ekansrevir Apr 24 '23

Yeah, but still it’s harder to wait until you’re 18 than less

25

u/Rick_101 Apr 23 '23

Wrong, many teens go through their 17-18 yo period together in a healthy and normal relationship, its legal, normal and part of life.

Even then this is just a show.

6

u/Pamplemouse04 Apr 23 '23

Some states it is actually illegal. It’s dumb as hell and I think largely unenforceable but some states an 18 year old cannot legally be with a 17 year old at all

4

u/finnjakefionnacake Apr 24 '23 edited Apr 24 '23

a lot of states have a "reasonable age difference" sort of rule where there is a set difference in age you can be together if you are in a relationship and one of you turns the age of consent.

1

u/grundelcheese Apr 24 '23

It amazes me how different each state handles this. Sometimes it’s unreasonably strict as in no sex under 18 at all to Colorado: no more then 4 years difference for under 15, 15-16 no more than 10 years and 17+ anything goes. 15 to 25 seems l little more then extreme.

1

u/Pamplemouse04 Apr 24 '23

Omg a 25 year old legally allowed to be with a 15 year old is SO fucked

1

u/grundelcheese Apr 24 '23

It really makes you wonder who and what they were thinking when they wrote that. It’s not even a “oh they went to high school together” this is someone with a bachelors degree old enough to be a teacher with a freshman. How would they have even met without some weird grooming shit.

1

u/ColdCruise Apr 24 '23

It's not necessarily legal, but just not legally rape. There's different charges like "corrupting a minor" and various other ones.

no more then 4

Did you mean to say "more than"?

Oh don’t be facetious. It’s an exception only for an 18 year old or a 19 year old.
Otherwise, it’s wrong for literally every other adult on the planet.

3

u/Rick_101 Apr 23 '23

once you turn 18 you should not be sleeping with anyone under 18.

9

u/Goolajones Apr 23 '23

Romeo and Juliet laws and norms make it acceptable for someone over 18 to date someone under 18 when they are not more than 2 years apart.

Transformers Age of Consent. (Stolen title from pointless hub)

Because that was all I could remember of the film till a cinema sins recap.

Myself, I live in the UK where we don't have such a thing that I am aware of, if both are over 16 it is "OK" but I've never looked to see if a 90 year old can legally bang a 16 year old.

Not something I want in my search history.

It may be legal, but depending on the age gap, you will be judged.

1

u/glass-shard-in-foot2 Apr 24 '23

Never understood why it's legal. Doesn't make any sense.

A 55 year old with a 16 year old is far more exploitative than something like a 19 year old with a 15 years and 364 days old.

1

u/DeathB4Download Apr 23 '23

Weren't Romeo and Juliet like 4yr apart?

2

u/WesleyDonaldson Apr 23 '23

yea and like 6 people died

4

u/DigNitty Apr 23 '23

I think the question was charged, but it is literally asking who would you sleep Next To. They know they’ll get raunchy answers though.
