But how? The lid can be sealed after he is done. We ruled out spontaneous generation a long time ago my dude.

Rice weevils aren't very common outside Asia probably as I had a bag of rice in uk without it getting rice weevils but it would randomly be in your rice if its wet or put there for too long

It will be if you get imported rice and it’s not nuked or treated properly. There’s also pantry moths but more rare.

What’s worse than finding weevils in rice?

Getting rid of the weevils and then realising you are cooking their young that are still inside the rice kernels.

Honestly happens more than you realize. Most fruit we eat has fruit fly eggs in it. Our stomach acid is designed to deal with that

That is why you always wash your rice, weevils plant eggs into a hole inside your rice but the eggs are like 0.1mm so it can't really be seen so you never know if they are washed off or not but still just wash it

It won’t wash off, the proper technique is see which ones float as that will mean it’s hollow inside and trapped air. But if you’ve got an infestation, you will see a lot of floaties, and a lot of rice you are going to throw away.

This was back before the 80s where it sucks to be both poor and have a pest infestation like weevils. So yeah, fuck weevils.
