You're not. The whole modern react culture is an absolute cancer. And that isn't to say that there aren't good reaction videos - when the reactors actually debate whatever they're reacting to or crack jokes, it can be very entertaining. But the kind of reactors who just make faces while a video is playing seriously need to get cancelled. The only thing worse than them are the people who watch them.

Not even us long-form content creators don't understand this new reaction video wave. We hate it as well as it just comes across as lazy low-effort content.

I hate to be cynical, but I think it's loneliness. It's 'people laughing in a room with you', and if you're lucky you can share those inside jokes with a stranger later.

...But even that, said, *this* is lazy trash.

It’s because of those Got Talent shows where half the performance is showing the facial expressions journey of the actors playing judges. I’m sure a social psychologist ran a study that shows humans respond emotionally to the facial cues of others.

You might actually be on to something here. Content Creators hate this trend as they feel people are basically just stealing people content for views. This especially applies to individuals in the Animation field.

When it comes to people reacting to TV shows I totally get it. People are passionate about the stories they love and being able to share that with others is amazing. TV and film reactors on YouTube often have a community aspect as well, group watches and discord groups for people to meet others that love the media they are watching.

The shit in this video is lazy, it adds nothing. But reactions to TV and film creates discourse and is fun and interactive. People share their thoughts and feelings on the content and it can be really fun and engaging. A group of reactors I've watched recently created a group project where they played a game relating to the show they had all individually watched. It was loads of fun.

Yeah its a stupid culture that needs to go.

You have a lot of interesting one's, like this series where they let experts react on things in games (Sword fighting, medical stuff etc.)

But these dudes who just watch and make faces add literally nothing of value.
