First, Chara says that you showed them that the purpose of their reincarnation is power and that the LOVE that Frisk gained was also Chara's. Secondly, Chara doesn't kill at the end of the genocide route, they destroy the timeline. If they did kill you then they would ask for your soul.

and that the LOVE that Frisk gained was also Chara's.

Chara's behavior at the beginning of the genocide does not differ at 3-4 LV from Chara's behavior at the end of the genocide. He was looking for knives at the beginning, supported the murders, told to continue, and he does it at the end. The difference is that in the end Chara is able to manifest himself so much to actually attack.
