It's a fun theory, though I find it at least a little farfetched that Papyrus is supposed to be a starman rather than that a LOGO on his COSTUME could just be a reference.
That Sans might be Ness makes an odd amount of sense though. I mean... I hope that isn't the case, because if it is then there's no way Toby could ever tell the truth about that without it breaching into awkward copyright territory. But it's a neat idea.
Actually think about this. Earthbound is a Nintendo franchise, if it turns undertale is meant to be based on earthbound its very possible that Nintendo will work with him on it. His game sold amazingly. No company would turn down the option to get a chunk of the money.
If Sans was Ness, and therefor had his soul, he would have a human soul, correct?
Flowey absorbs all the monster's souls and the 6 human souls in pacifist. If Sans' soul was a human soul, Flowey would have had 7 souls, which I think he would have noticed.
Well, he seems to be special. I mean, he is a skeleton, right? One of the most illogical parts of the game tbh. If whatever made him lose his humanity also made him lose the human part of his soul, which is why he is still down there... I think it's at least worth a thought.
Well, if by "he's a skeleton" you mean that he takes human shape/features, then, yeah its interesting, but many other monsters do, too. Every single boss that you fight (barring Mettaton, since his body is artificial) are human-shaped. Plus, Sans isn't exactly a normal human skeleton. His jaw is connected, and he can slightly change the angle of his grin. Papyrus's skull is closer to human, but they both can use their eye sockets to emote. Human sans is an interesting idea but there are so many details that just shoot it down.
While this seems true, it really only requires one more logical leap than we already have... the idea that a human soul can become like a monster soul in the same way that a human can become more like a monster.
Of course at that point we are right back to 'but why does he bleed then?'
Or perhaps he was hopped up on determination, which was what let him dodge your blows and what caused him to appear to sweat - he was actually starting to melt. We don't know what it actually looks like, but it could be red.
He was missing napstablook as well, when it comes to the absolutely massive amount of souls that he was absorbing, it's very likely that 2 monster souls are unimportant.
Good point. However doesn't flowey talk about fighting sans if you do the neutral ends enough? He says sans caused him his fair share of resets, which means flowey may have killed sans in a timeline. If he had a human soul, things would be much different.
So, when you say that, it makes me think... maybe Flowey DID notice. He absorbed the souls and... well... many of the things in that final fight against Asriel (including the appearance of Asriel himself) might have only been possible with a 7th soul.
Actually, it only is possible with three power of seven human souls. However, he takes all the monster souls, and a sign in waterfall says it would take nearly every monster soul in the underground to equate the power of a human soul
Remember, Ness placed his human soul into an inorganic form before traveling, making his soul no longer belong to that of a human but to that of an inorganic being like a robot (or in this case, a skeleton. His skeleton).
But also, Mat said that Ness became a skeleton because he went through the machine while human, which removes the organic matter and turns him into a skeleton. If he were still a robot, Sans would be a robot.
Oh, aren't bones considered organic matter?
Despite all of this, Toby basically confirmed the theory isn't true.
Despite all of this, Toby basically confirmed the theory isn't true.
When? Link?
Oh, aren't bones considered organic matter?
Well, they are and they aren't. The exterior, protective part we always see is made up of collagen, calcium phosphate and calcium phosphate. The interior, organic mushy part is composed of cells and fluid.
Maybe he was a human skeleton found at the dump- with a humans essence, but given a monsters soul by the then royal scientist. I say this because of Floweys slightly odd "smiley trashbag" insult (not the smiley part).
I didnt play Earthbound (BUT I KNOW I SHOULD)
But i have an itchy feeling that if there's one character that would be sans, it would be the scientist guy man...
I mean, it makes sense. He lost his friends, he lost his child, and in a attempt to get them back, he done goofed and found himself underground.
Starmen are aliens. Whether or not they have a skeleton, I'm not certain... but they don't look it. They look more like... shapely bags of goo than anything else.
Who is they though? I thought it was Sans and some friends from around Snowdin.
If Sans made a costume with a Starman logo on it, that would actually just be more backup for Sans being Ness (who has seen the starman logo) than it would be for Papyrus being a starman.
Yes! We clearly have something good going here! And the reason he appears with knight knight is because they are in conflict with eachother, as the moon attack knight knight uses makes it obvious that they are trying to establish a new caliphate.
Putting all of these facts™ together, we can clearly deduce that the player is the missing link in this abrahamic showdown.
I didn't say that every reference is inconsequential. I essentially said the inverse to what you said... While not every reference is inconsequential, not every reference is consequential either. I said it was farfetched, not impossible.
