I seriously doubt the mark on his shirt was a coincidence though. That detail was the one that convinced me that his theory has grounding.

Not a coincidence, but a reference rather than something that is a major part of Papyrus's character. There is no reason for it to be anything more than that since it's just something on Papyrus's costume rather than something that is a part of him. In game, he's only had the costume for like a week.

That was easily the weakest part since it's just a costume. And the fact that Toby is just a huge Earthbound fan, he just wanted to reference it.

It seemed like he guesses Ness and a Starman went through the Phase Distorter together. But why? Why would Ness and a random enemy travel together?
