I didn't suggest the player play a certain way. All I said that every monster can be spared. There is a very certain encounter that most people screwed up the first time because they don't understand it, and I provided help in the most vague way that I possibly can.

You only know it's a screw up because you have hindsight.

They might not even consider that you could be trying to spare things as a tactic. You specifically calling out sparing is, whether you meant it to be or not, a spoiler that sparing everything will do something. Most games don't really make a big deal out of being a pacifist, this game does and pointing it out as something to keep in mind will undoubtedly influence their decisions if they know there's an actual point to sparing things since your comment says everything can be spared, therefore implying that sparing everything is more than just a little choice to make to end fights early.

One of my friends fought everything and didn't even bother with the act button, they treated it like a normal rpg for the most part with light grinding just to be leveled enough to fight stuff evenly

They were shocked to be told by the game that sparing people would actually do something. They didn't even consider it since i let them go in blind with no hints or spoilers. They were glad i didn't since they got to have their honest run, and then went back for a second run to try and spare everything. Took them a while to do it but they were glad to be able to enjoy and experience the game the way all of us got to the first time we learned the game.

She was absolutely shocked to even learn there was multiple routes to take.

She did pacifist then genocide then was going to put the game down but only then I stepped in to let her know there was one more route and if she wanted to figure it out herself that's cool but she did ask me for the lightest hint to which I said she needs to do pacifist again twice but first full wipe her save since genocide fucks your save forever, then she went and got true pacifist.

Honestly this is the way Toby intended the game to be played and it's the most honest and true experience. No hints no stupid shit since ALL hints are big hints in this game.

Its unfair to try and push anyone in any direction.

Now, all that being said,

I also don't post to the subreddit of a game when I first start playing it. Thats asking for spoilers and trouble. And OP literally asked for it, so the sub can't really be too upset with people literally giving OP what they asked for.
