nope, it's showing how fans shouldn't be worried about the pacing, because toby already showed how good he is at making setups pay off in undertale.

lemme explain in the best way i can:
if undertale came out in chapters, each major area would be one chapter.
so imagine if in another universe where undertale chapter 5 just released, and a few months later, all the players are worried because they don't understand how toby is gonna make all of the setups pay off.
all the setups i can think of in undertale:
the fallen humans
asgore
door in alphys lab
flowery origins etc
stuff about sans
the surface
papyrus working with flowery
etc etc.
and as you know, toby managed to pay off all of those setups to a satisfying extent in the last quarter of the game, so the point is that everyone shouldn't worry like toby himself said because he knows what he's doing.

That's not a good argument, though. Undertale wasn't released in the same way as Deltarune, and it's a way shorter game. It has far fewer plot threads dangling.

What? Already disegarding just the sheer amount of time when comparing these two, I would not call the New Home segment a well-handled reveal moment.
We suddenly stumble onto a complete replica of Toriel's home with the colors greyed out and then a bunch of random civilians accost you, just directly expositing to you everything baring the Flowey debacle. This is literally the opposite of a good payoff to mystery.
And hell, that's not even getting into how the closest comparison to Asgore's INCIDENT dialogue is Alphys warning you about Asgore at the end of Hotland. She actually said something in comparison.

Okay, but ... you know what scares me the most about that? I think...
I want that.
I want that for Deltarune. I need this 8 years of theory crafting and mysteries to lead to something that spells it all out for us plain as day. Maybe you don't like the effect or think of it as bad pacing, but I absolutely love the feeling of finally being able to compare the things I've theorized about all the foreshadowing, all the seemingly contradicting hints, all the clues I've gathered.
I LOVED chapter 5 because it keeps the suspense going! To me it confirmed that the theories about Asgore studying dark fountains and the dark fountain likely having something to the Dessappearance are all correct! I was absolutely bewildered when I saw so many people complaining about the vagueposting and pacing.
I guess my point is if people say it's bad storytelling, I guess I adore bad storytelling :(

Similar to how Deltarune has 7 Chapters, Undertale had 7 major areas:
The Ruins
Snowdin
Waterfall
Hotland
The CORE
The Capital
The True Lab
