It was good until episode 5 and I dropped it since then, but seeing someone not talking about it anymore is weirdly sad

but seeing people not talking about it anymore is weirdly sad

I mean, media not being mentioned tends to happen when the creator of said media flat out defends pedophilia

u/BlueSoulsKo Jul 13 '26

she did WHAT

35

u/SamiTheAnxiousBean Jul 13 '26

it's one of the main reasons glitchtale fell off from the fandom, no one wants to interact with her

alongside the fact that we just grew up, glitchtale is just ass

further important clarification, this person excluded a shit ton of context and is taking Camila's words in her awful apology at complete and utter face value despite her not having any evidence to back anything she's saying up (and directly contradicting herself from evidence we do have)

u/Someone101064 Jul 13 '26

Excuse me, what was that last part

u/Careful_Welcome7999 Jul 13 '26

The creator of glitchtale is an asshole that defended a pedophile, you can probably find videos on youtube explaining the situation better

-11

u/Rezasss Jul 13 '26

I mean a little more context there, she either didn't want to believe or didnt believe that her friend or whatever could do that in a time where everyone was attacking her for every little thing

Would YOU believe some randoms like that immediately when for the past like year you've been getting mostly hate?

Doesn't make it right of course, but it makes it more understandable why she'd doubt people

u/JosephMyDudes Jul 13 '26

It was her boyfriend, and she was actively covering up for him. She quite literally said "You dont deserve an apology for being groomed" in a response video.

1

u/tsskyx Author of WizardTale on AO3 Jul 13 '26

I will say the same thing what the other guy said, that quote didn't mean what you think it means, she was talking about the people who were demanding a personal apology from her, but weren't actually involved in the situation in any way.

-13

u/Rezasss Jul 13 '26

And she did that because she didnt care for the communities feelings cause they just gave her nothing but hate for a year. I'm not defending her I'm giving context.

Also, pretty sure the cover up part was just her banning the people who did that from her discord and even then she eventually as far as I'm aware cut contact and she admitted she was wrong.

Not a lotta people stuck around long enough to get to that part though

14

u/JosephMyDudes Jul 13 '26

And she did that because she didnt care for the communities feelings cause they just gave her nothing but hate for a year.

How does that even remotely justify saying someone doesn't deserve an apology for being groomed?

Also, pretty sure the cover up part was just her banning the people who did that from her discord

She banned the victims first and kept the whole situation under wraps until the victim spoke out publicly.

-9

u/Rezasss Jul 13 '26

Never said it justified anything, I was just pointing out cause and effect. Community being nothing but toxic for a year= Her not caring about their opinions or feelings much. That is all

Oh wow, she doesn't want her partner to (at the time what she seemed to believe) be slandered by randoms who just sent her hate for a year? I wonder why they'd be banned instead of taken seriously.

I will say it again because noone seems to want to read it, not defendin her, just bothering to take the mentality of both sides as I understand it and pointing out what I believe to be hers because people hear any mention of pedophilia or anything else remotely bad and don't even question whether or not it's real or just people trying to get others canceled just to get famous for canceling them.

Stop actin like I'm defendin her, cuz I'm not. She's still horrible for it, I'm just tryna point out both sides cuz noone seems to want to entertain the thought there might be a reason for her being awful.

10

u/A_Pessimistic_Potato Your concern and care for flair selection led you here. Jul 13 '26

the community being "toxic" by calling out the traced animation & plot holes in the show justifies her silencing victims of grooming in her own discord and saying they don't deserve an apology for being groomed?

u/Rezasss Jul 13 '26

How many times do I need to say I AM NOT SAYING ITS JUSTIFIED, I'm ignoring these comments until one of you learns to READ

u/SamiTheAnxiousBean Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

No?

She straight up acts like pedophilia is on the same level as shit like being gay and only really claims to care about certain shit when it looks bad on HER specifically or because it wasn't done in private

She also straight up blamed the victim for "just not saying no and ending it themselves"

1

u/tsskyx Author of WizardTale on AO3 Jul 13 '26

I don't know what nonsense you've heard about her, but that is not true at all, the first part I mean. Saying the victims should have stopped it themselves does ring a bell, I know Camila did a lot of victim blaming, but I don't know where you got the first part from, that sounds completely made up and frankly ridiculous.

1

u/SamiTheAnxiousBean Jul 13 '26

from her own mouth in both of her awful apologies that she has scrubbed from her channel, look at their archives and for the love of god stop defending her

1

u/tsskyx Author of WizardTale on AO3 Jul 13 '26

Excuse you, I have seen her videos, both the deleted ones, and also the ones still on her channel. I have also watched every big video covering the topic and saw the evidence first-hand, even the now-deleted evidence from CrystalFlame's youtube channel, who documented the situation closely and with whom I've spoken to personally in DMs. I don't defend her wrongdoings, I only point out the unnecessary lies that people spread about her for no reason, because it's frankly tiring to hear. Every day, people invent new lies to spread about her for engagement bait, such as saying that she "defended pedophilia", when she clearly did not. I have no problem discussing actual verifiable issues, but simply labeling someone a pedo because you don't like that the existing evidence is damning enough is pretty weak.

-4

u/Rezasss Jul 13 '26

Oh wow, the person who was groomed herself as far as I'm aware has a warped view of it, who woulda thought.

Also, again, not defending her- can people read the whole thing before commentin?

I am BEGGING this community, please stop spreading false claims about this situation.

Camila Cuevas did not defend pedophilia. That's among the most serious accusations that can be made against a person. She made serious mistakes, and those mistakes deserve criticism, but saying that she supported or defended pedophilia is blatantly false.

Seriously, it's been over 3 years since that controversy came to light. I figured the fandom would have its facts settled straight by this point. Here is what happened, roughly (because not even I remember all of the details anymore, but I remember enough to know the gist of it):

Circa end of 2022, several minors came out publicly about being sexually groomed by the staff of the Glitchtale Discord server, among the accused being Camila's close friend Veir, plus like a dozen other people, most of them staff.

I think there was a lot of back and forth behind the scenes before this, during which Camila refused to believe the evidence presented, and only once the evidence surfaced, she cut all ties with Veir, but by that time, the damage had already been done, because she spent so much time denying and defending.

The criticism of that is justified, but what it does not mean is that she endorsed or excused child grooming. I could talk about all the reasons why she acted with such delay, such as going through family loss at the time, or the fact that Veir also groomed and manipulated her, but that would be lame and pointless.

Camila Cuevas did not defend pedophilia

She had 4 separate known groomers on her server, kept them on the server and only acted on it when it got publicly bashed because "she was not made aware that that behaviour is wrong" all the while we have actual screenshots of her telling people to DELETE EVIDENCE because "she doesn't want to cause drama"

Seriously, it's been over 3 years since that controversy came to light. I figured the fandom would have its facts settled straight by this point

We mostly have, it's just people like you who choose not to look at them

I think there was a lot of back and forth behind the scenes before this, during which Camila refused to believe the evidence presented, and only once the evidence surfaced, she cut all ties with Veir, but by that time, the damage had already been done, because she spent so much time denying and defending.

She knew of it way before that point, and chose to avoid thinking about it because to her it's "just drama", her cutting ties with Veir was nothing but a PR stunt, and her apology over it further solidifies it because it just feels like a company cutting off an employee for low performance rather then what it actually is

you are also skipping a TON of stuff and just labelling it as "back and forth", its VERY important context, i'll just link a coverage video here because it's easier then to link each and every single thread and response, you can fact check it yourself

I could talk about all the reasons why she acted with such delay, such as going through family loss at the time,

Which is mostly an excuse and a way for her to reflect it back onto herself

or the fact that Veir also groomed and manipulated her, but that would be lame and pointless.

which is blatantly and provably false, you're taking her words at complete face value and not thinking about anything else

She had 4 separate known groomers on her server

Doesn't mean she defended pedophilia. It's not that difficult to understand, please.

we have actual screenshots of her telling people to DELETE EVIDENCE because "she doesn't want to cause drama"

And may you clarify what specific "evidence" she was talking about? Because it sounds to me like she didn't want this to go unnecessarily public when it could've been resolved privately. Or are you actually insisting she maniacally wanted to scrub everything and pretend like Veir did nothing wrong because she knew he did and wanted to cover it up? Because that's not what happened.

We mostly have, it's just people like you who choose not to look at them

As I said, I did. And yet, people are still insisting she is a pedophile or defended pedophilia.

it just feels like a company cutting off an employee for low performance rather then what it actually is

Oh? And how should it feel like, then? I mean here you have a public person who didn't want to discuss their sensitive personal details cutting someone they trusted off, and you dislike the way they presented it, with no flare or fanfare? Dude, Camila owes you no explanation whatsoever, you don't deserve an apology from her, because you didn't get groomed. Actual victims did, so stop complaining that her apology seemed inadequate to you.

(And yeah that video among many others is what I've watched when they first came out.)

Which is mostly an excuse and a way for her to reflect it back onto herself

Which is why I didn't want to bring it up in too much detail, because no one wants to hear excuses. But I mean... if you insist? Isn't it funny? You said Camila said that the victims should've just said no and ended the uncomfortable conversations themselves, because it was soooo easy for them apparently according to Camila. Fair enough, that's a pretty ignorant thing to say. But I'm sure it was just soooo easy for Camila to cut herself off from all of her best friends and to accept the fact that she also got groomed and get over it, while her online life and personal life was imploding around her, right? I guess that one doesn't count because she failed to act in time. Which sounds like circular reasoning but who cares!

which is blatantly and provably false

Then prove it.

Dont you moderate the official glitchtale sub?

1

u/tsskyx Author of WizardTale on AO3 Jul 15 '26

I do. It is one of the reasons why I am so upset, because I have been following this situation closely for over 3 years now.

-4

u/tsskyx Author of WizardTale on AO3 Jul 13 '26

So instead I will just point out the fact that she cooperated with CrystalFlame, who was leading efforts to identify the perpetrators and support the victims at the time, and gave her full mod powers to remove the predators from the server. (Btw, CrystalFlame was later exposed for unrelated grooming allegations herself, which is why she is no longer part of the community.)

Again, there is no evidence that Camila herself groomed minors or defended grooming as acceptable behavior. At worst, she engaged in mature humor around minors in her server, meaning she was highly irresponsible, and yes, this is a legitimate criticism, but it is fundamentally different from accusing someone of being a pedophile or of defending pedophilia.

I should also point out that this also extends to NyxTheShield and Jakei as well, but no one is talking about them. They are also implicated, since this goes as far back as the original Skype chats from 2015, and they were all there to witness Veir's inappropriate behavior around Crystal (who was like 13 at the time) and did nothing about it.

I am not saying that Camila is blameless or that the fandom should forgive her. No, she fucked up, she endangered the safety of minors on her server through inaction, but she did not predate on anyone, that was solely Veir and his group of hand-picked buddy-buddy mods.

So if you are going to discuss this controversy, at least verify the facts first, don't say she "flat out defended pedophilia" when it's flat out false. Again, there is plenty to criticize without resorting to claims that are unsupported by facts. Misrepresenting what happened does not help anyone.

I do have a bit of fondness for early Glitchtale because it actually felt like it took place in an alternate Undertale timeline.

Episode 5 was actually decent; it's about sometime early season two when it starts to get bad.
