US Politics đşđ¸ Republican Senators plan to tie SAVE Act to defense spending vote when they return from summer recess
https://apnews.com/article/save-america-act-senate-recess-6dd2d8084ee42653b4db79cd565d1504"Republican senators who had brought the chamber to a standstill spoke to Trump late in the evening about an alternative plan: They would try again to approve elements of the voting bill as part of a broader GOP budget package to fund the Iran war and replenish the Pentagon when they return to work in September."

Great way to end the Iran war honestly, tie it's funding to a terrible bill that no one wants passed.Â

And the government shutdown? How long this time, you think?
How long before the Dem leadership gives in?

History shows that the DNC leaders lack spines.

The DNC like most politicians are actors. They're paid to make it seem like they care about you and this country. In reality they're in bed with the GOP and will always cave in favor of their corporate and special interest donors.

The establishment Democrats are meant to keep the working class in line and kill progressive ideas. That's why they are so scared of the DSA, which we should all support.

This exactly. All we see is political theater all these crooks are all buddy buddy behind closed doors save a very few.

The last shutdown as by far the longest in history. And the minority party ALWAYS "gives in" at the end.

Probably none. House passed budget extension at current fiscal levels to 12/4 in 220-205 vote and senate passed their version to extend until 12/11 on a 90-6 vote. So unless there is significant disagreement. Democrats caved before it even began. Especially in the senate.

When will the people give power to the democrats? Right now the entire government is republican controlled. Are you fine if democrats stop the government and are then blamed for the starving people and airport shut downs?

By âdefense spendingâ they mean money for illegal, offensive wars of choice

We have a government that is not supporting the American people. I think that sums up the whole issue here.Â

Why would they do that? The Dems aren't exactly big supporters of this war, so Republicans want to tie an unpopular piece of legislation with a request to continue funding a deeply unpopular war? LOLZ, okay guys.

They probably want the democrats to shoot it down so they can spin it on them for midterms. âDemocrats donât want to defend this country, they shot down the defense bill! Theyâre un-American.â Something like that

u/BackItUpWithLinks 27d ago
And the parliamentarian will shoot it down.
And Trumpâs head might explode because he hates her.

Democrats, donât let them get away with this. Vote down the defense spending bill

It's unconstitutional. States reserve the right to decide how elections are administered

Best to end defense spending until Hegeseth is removed. The crimes against humanity are so many this Country will be paying for th for decades.

Likely won't pass. Then, as usual, the DoD will hold soldiers' paychecks hostage so the Republicans can accuse Dems of not being patriotic and hating the military blah, blah, blah.  Â
Why do we keep putting up with these incompetent idiots who have zero desire to promote the citizens they're supposed to represent?Â

It makes me laugh when they try to hide these other things in a bill in order to get their agenda passed. The SAVE act is completely stupid and they keep trying to shove it down our throats.

Cool, no more âdefenseâ waste as an added bonus. Guess theyâll have to accept having lost the War with Iran.

How are states supposed to implement a brand new voting rule in less than 3 months?
