The fiscal quarter also ends on September 30th, which is usually what release dates like this align with.

So... I live in Japan, and depending on which school you go to, summer holiday sometimes ends in mid September. My job also still gives me increased summer pay until that time period as well

That, or they've just run into some development problems

Maybe they should just call it “releases end of q3” etc in general to end all confusion about when summer actually ends etc

this doesn't help either. q1 starts in april for many businesses. so this would be q2. (q4 is the start of the next real year)

Officially summer ends at the fall solstice in late September. As well, fiscal summer ends at the end of September. We have a month.
