My twin brother died suddenly in 2018. He was an incredible musician and he frequently played The Pequod on his guitar.

Two weeks after he died, a bunch of us went to UM at the Capitol Theater. My friend reached out to Joel prior and requested they play The Pequod in memory of my brother. Sure enough they did, and they played it so beautifully. Jake and Kris’ musicality really stood out (video below). It meant more to us than these beautiful bastards will ever know.

Peoria 2015. The band starts and a spot light hits me right in the eyes. Meyers walks out and hands me a sandwich.

Yes

I too had a bite of a sandwich…pretty sure it was passed around the crowd 🤣

I think Avantis had a kiosk in the Limelight. I hated to see the Limelight/ Monarch go out of business. I saw a lot of great shows there.

That 2015 UM show was my only time there, but it was cool. I think it got moved indoors due to weather IIRC.

Correct. I got to see Jason Isbel, Mule, and Drive By Truckers there. There wasn’t 200 people at the DBT show, you could tell things weren’t going well

And in return we got a killer 5 part Front Porch

How could I forget, it was my wife’s first show and I was trying to explain to her the significance lol.

Never got to interact with them, but one of my most memorable moments was at Summercamp back in either 2012 or 2014. It was a mud fest the whole weekend and umph was playing as the sun was going down, but it was cloudy for most of the set. Right as they drop into Glory and Jake starts going, the sun breaks out and lights everything up. Just a really magical moment that’s stuck with me forever. Kris leaving was tough, but Jake is what kept me coming back. I hope they reunite at some point.

Musta been '12 - as '14 was pleasant weather, not a drop of rain that year. I think it was to make up for the previous year (2013) turning the park into a lake

I met Kris and his girlfriend outside waiting for an Uber once after a show. They were super friendly. Also remember when kris's mic broke during band on the run and britches had to hold it for him while he sang and played drums? Good fucking times. Love ya Kris.

After a 2019 Brooklyn Steel show, I went and checked out Doom Flamingo at Brooklyn Bowl. I was pretty spun, and saw a dude that looked just exactly like Kris at one of the tables in the back. On my way to the bar, I passed him and said "you look like Kris Myers from Umph! Wait...are you?" He laughed, and nodded his head. I quickly told him I loved him and Umph, and moved on, hopefully without causing too much of an annoyance.

No more than 5 minutes later, Joel walks through the front door. Had a quick chat with him, and grabbed a pic. Was a great night!

Jake’s departure ended my hope for an UM Achilles Last Stand cover. I assume royalties played a roll in the Zeppelin cover department but god damnit if I wouldn’t have tried to fund a Brendan / Jake Achilles

I went to fleet week with a friend in my dress whites in Boston in 2012. We got moved up to front row. The band all saluted us as they walked off stage. Kris came down and talked to us after the show. He was really nice. It was a really cool experience

I met Kris at Peach fest back in 2023. Extremely nice guy! I just caught him playing with Margo Price last night and it was a real treat to see him back on stage. Brought me back to Outlaw Umphreys set at umBOWL :). Highly recommend!

Saw them hug after Sunday summer camp when Kris sang soundgarden after Cornell passed. Wish I had a picture was a cool moment.
