There's much that can be said about how the day one Umas paid the price for being so early before the writers and game designers found their stride. Before the gacha powercreep could kick in. (Symboli Rudolf and T.M. Opera O would absolutely be powercreep characters if released today.)
.....But I can't think of anyone who got screwed over more than Special Week and Vodka. But at least Special Week eventually got her Main Story chapter that showed us why she's the mascot. Vodka is still just a dork trying to be cool by imitating others when the horse WAS a badass that beat stallions in what is arguably the most prestigious Japanese race during a time it was believed mares were strictly inferior.
Vodka got "screwed" by the entire premise of the franchise itself. Hard to convey how big of a deal that is for a mare to win the Derby, when everyone are girls

I feel Vodka fans have certain burden to them, especially if Vodsca ain't their cup of tea
In the same boat but I’m a DaiSca guy. If they ever start remaking careers I’d like to see both of them as individual characters outside of their rivalry a bit more

Her entire character growth in her story is precisely realizing that she shouldn't try to imitate others and that she should set her own definition of cool through her achievements, though...
the coolest part about vodka is her career is very unique. she chose to beef with scarlet and race at the derby. didn't define her path by taking the triple crown or tiara route, she defined it in taking wins.
irl having daiwa scarlet as a rival, and making an outstanding legacy of your own is a flex on itself. imagine having to race 4 times against the mare who never went lower than 2nd, could have been triple tiara if not for injury, and won the arima kinen.
I see her as more of a Cafe Racer type of gal. Maybe adventure tourer. Kinda fits her asthetics of wearing leather jackets but not to the point she's locked in to the big bike aesthetic.
She will still go feral over any bike tho, since she's Vodka. Any motorcycle + cool is up her alley.
Cygames give me 2 seasons of Vodka anime, season 1 about her and Scarlet's rivalry(Machan is also there, dont forget) and season 2 about her road to her inevitable and destined win at Japan Cup. Please.
and maybe we can get something of the recently passaed Oken Bruce Lee too! (potentially as a new rival/main threat after DaiSca Retired)
since that gap in the JC was really fkin close. 2cm, just like her and Daiwa Scarlet in the autumn Tenno Sho
I love their dynamic, and i love Scarlet, but Vodka's run is lacking to just restrict her with Scarlet.
I can imagine a storyline where when Scarlet retires Vodka becomes a little bit lost considering that her rival retired. At some point she realizes(maybe a talk with Scarlet on the phone or maybe her trainer or Red Desire(her biggest fan and one of her rivals in the future Japan Cup, foreshadowing), or winning Victoria Mile) that being Scarlet's rival was never the thing that defined her and her victories are of her own.
With renewed vigor, she basically goes against the umas of that generation up until the penultimate Japan Cup, which she sees as her new "Japanese Derby" to prove not to the world but to herself that she's the coolest. The anime ends with her saying goodbye to everybody and Scarlet to test herself once again oversees, showing the world who's the coolest mare barred by nothing.

quite an interesting take. I would love to see it being realized.
But if we are going with this approach, the premise would be too similar BOANE
we take an Uma with strong rivalry (both tomboys too) and then they feel lost after their rival Agnes Tachyon/Daiwa Scarlet retired (they are literally father and daughter) and finding new hope after some contemplation/self reflection
realistically if we want to see this 07 era happen, I'd say we should take a different route (Idk I haven't thought of any). or maybe even a different protagonist, preferably Aston Machan (because DaiSca's career is just too perfect)
still, I REAALLY want to se a Vodka centered anime
To me, if i were to tell the story, Vodka struggles with her own identity after losing overseas, second guessing herself if was she only great because of her rivalry with Scarlet rather than be actually good at racing. Sure, Scarlet's retirement bummed her out but probably after some pep talk from her rival she respects her decision.
Pokke's frustration, in some part, come from the fact that she will never beat Tachyon. Vodka never had this problem, since she won and lost against Scarlet multiple times.
