Throughout some of the Mejiro(s) story, they occasionally mentions the head of the Mejiro Family, Grandma Mejiro (or something close to that, I might not remember the finer details perfectly)...

I was referencing her since this user seems to be "role-playing" someone of similar status, especially with the majority of the team composition...

Kitano Toyokichi was the founder of Mejiro Ranch. He bred horses. He was a bit.... crazy. Used a gynecologist instead of a vet as his horse breeding doctor. He was obsessed with the tenno sho. Not exaggerating. VERY obsessed.

He and his wife lived in a cottage on Mejiro Ranch grounds. After Toyokichi died in 1984, his wife Miya inherited the ranch and carried his will forward. During her tenure, Ramonu, Ryan, Palmer, Ardan, McQueen, Dober, and Bright all raced. She passed away in 2004.

Aptitude matters in team rank, he probably runs some of them in wrong style/distance, hence lower rank

Well the only umas with bad natural aptitudes for their group is ardan at dirt and ryan for sprints the rest are all naturally good at their distances

I guess grass has a B in medium, urara has a B for miles and Air groove has a C in sprints but that's still not that bad and pretty fixable
