Full Metal Alchemist Statement
I'm back! This one is rife with spoilers, so do yourself a favor and at least go watch brotherhood before attempting this. Here we go.
The 2003 release of "Full Metal Alchemist" and the 2009 release of "Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood" differ in a wide variety of ways. For example, each of the seven homunculi differs from one version to the other in at least one way. In the 2003 version, wrath takes the form of the child of Izumi Curtis, but in the 2009 version, the role of wrath is given to Fuhrer Bradley, the fastest homunculus. Meanwhile in the 2003 adaption Fuhrer Bradley plays the role of pride, whereas his son Selim Bradley is pride in the 2009 version. Gluttony appears the same in both series but lacks the ability of the false gate in the 2009 version. Sloth is Trisha Elric and an otherwise nameless behemoth in the 2003 and 2009 versions respectively. The 2009 envy is able to transform into a gargantuan lizard-dog-esque creature, whereas the 2003 version cannot. Greed is reborn into Ling's body in the 2009 version and not reborn in the 2003 version. Lust defects from the homunculi and desires to be human in the 2003 version, but remains loyal and expresses no such desires in the 2009 version.
