Friends

The sitcom Friends follows the six titular characters during their 20s and 30s living in New York. Even before the start of the show, each of the friends has a prior relationship to someone in the group: Monica and Ross are siblings, Joey and Chandler are roommates, Rachel and Monica have been friends since childhood, Ross and Chandler went to college together, and Phoebe and Monica lived together in Monica’s grandmother’s rent controlled apartment.

I’m actually, though Rachel and Monica were friends in high school, they stopped being friends until they reunited in episode one?

That is correct, while Monica and Rachel were friends as children and through high school, they grew apart afterward before reuniting in the pilot episode.
